well i noticed that when im driving normal and i shift gears i can sometimes here a little pop come out the back of my Apexi N1 exhaust, and sometimes when i boost it pretty hard it will also backfire loud. Im only running stock boost (10lbs) no check engine light is on, i am recirculating the bov just trying to figure this out. i dont have a safc. I have a stock fuel pump and injectors. I have a long list of mods in my profile if you want to check that out oh i am running a s16g. Maybe i just need to take it and get it tuned on the dyno.
i have a 2G GST.

Any boost leak will cause your car to run richer than it normally would, in turn causing more unburnt fuel to go out the exhuast. When the fuel gets hot enough and finally hits the atmosphere, it ignites. I had this problem too and it turned out to be a bad boost leak. You can build a boost leak tester from the many tech articles on here and www.vfaq.com If you want to try to fix it quickly, I would suggest checking all of your clamps and especially the j-pipe gasket area and probably tighten the pipe down.:thumb:

I second that alex. I had the same problem when I installed my hard intercooler pipes. I had major boost leak where the UPIC attatches to the side mount (factory) intercooler.

im having the same problem, the only boost leak i have is through my greddy BOV, which im currently rebuilding.
