I live in North Dakota and there are no emissions laws and I was wondering If a 3" straight through exhaust would be a good idea, or would it just be incredibly loud? I have a 1g talon tsi and i will soon have a 14 b turbo that i will be running at 14 - 15 psi. any comments would be great. thank you for your time. Also, i was wondering what system the guy in this vid is using?? if anybody knows?

That pretty much sounds like an open exhaust as you are describing.

Being loud is cool and all, but it does get annoying.
If you want a good deep tone, get a buschur 3 inch system with no cat.

does anyone know by chance what exhaust the car in that vidoe in my previos post has?? or what it sounds like cause id like to make mine like that.

Thanx alot for the help. Im gonna look in to that buschur exhaust system you guys are tellin me about. It would be really helpfull if anyone could refer me to a link where i could here this system, or if anyone could send me a video of it doing revs and idleing... thand again for your time.

I tried looking for a sound clip before buying mine, but couldn't find one. I cant do much for you because my motor isn't even in the car, sorry. I do not think you will be disappointed with this exhaust system, it sounds great. Also it is a slip fit exhaust, extremely easy to put in.

The exhaust in that vid is a straight pipe all the way to the back. No muffler.

Can you weld? Or do you know someone who can? If so then save yourself allot of money and create your own exhaust however you like it. The bends needed are readily available over the net or even at your local parts store. If you happen to know where a big truck parts store is you can even get larger than 3" tubing. I just bought enough stainless 4.5" piping and bends to do a complete exaust for less than 500. It might be more expensive for you to go stainless, but aluminized is very cheap( enough pipe and bends for a standard exhaust should be in the 50-100 dollar range). Just my .02

4.5" piping? WTF Is that really necessary? I mean come on...Shep only ran 3.5" when he had a full exhaust...I bet you'll bottom out on it a bit.

HaHa. I guess I should have mentioned that it is for the F250 that I got last week. I need to update my profile because I change vehicles more than some people change their underwear. Oh yeah and keeping with my tradition it is a 4 wheel drive and it is an 01 with the 7.3L. The 6.0 is junk, Ford would have done better by putting a boat anchir under the hood.

Yeah im pretty good with a welder, and someone at the parts store tonight was telling me about the pre bended stuff.. I think im gonna go with that. Just 3" all the way back with the prebends (cause there is like 6 or somethin like that on the AWD).

3" is a bit overkill for a 14B, you'll lose a healthy amount of low-end torque with a straight pipe. If you're not planning on eventually upgrading the turbo, I'd use no bigger than 2.5"....especially if you end up running a straight pipe.

I wouldny say that 3" is too big for a stock turbo. I just put a 3" cat back on my car with the stock t-25. It actually feels like it gained a llittle bottom end. Backpressure is really not much of a concearn with a turbo car, unless you have too much. :dsm:

Dude check out www.meganracing.com if they dont have pics of there new exhaust set up then go to the tech guide on here and its under 1G Turbo for HP Gains, it is pretty cheap, no name brand like bushcur but really good, and with the whole 3" on the stock 14B, I would say 2.5" would be able to get all the exhaust gases away from the turbo more then fast enough= very little back pressure :thumb: . if you are going to be getting a larger turbo, soon then go with the 3", but if not then I would stick with a 2.5" set-up. If you do go with a the megam racing exhaust, I would get the DP w/ a cat-delete already built in so all to need is the DP w/cat-delete and cat-back exhaust.
G'Luck with your choice man
