So i had a b&m short throw shifter for my 2g laying around and decided to see if i could put it in my 1g. I have a eBay special in the 1g right now but the b&m is so much nicer. With some cutting and grinding and one piece off the 2g i was able to make it work. . The only piece off the 2g was the part that the shifter bolts to in the first pic.

I had to grind this piece some for clearance and then grind on the plate that everything bolts to which you can see in the 2nd pic. I had to grind that plate for the shifter cables to clear since the b&m shifter is longer than stock. I put all new plastic bushings in so everything should be nice and tight with know play in it. I have to weld a small solid piece of tubing on tomorrow for the spring to rest against and cut down the shifter so its not so high in the center console.
I will take a pic tomorrow with it all installed. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks buddy. I cant wait to finish it tomorrow and get it installed.

Heh my B&M sucked so bad I gave it practically gave it away. Sold in the classifieds section for less than half price.

How is yours? Mine was about 50% harder to shift than the stock. I was having many issues with it and when I put the stock one that came with the car (hidden under the seat LOL) back on it improved my ability to shift a lot.

Yeach good luck wth that shifter man...looks good. I think my stock shifter feels pretty good with the shifter cable bushings and then shifter bushings

Thanks guys. I did the welding on it and installed it today after work. I have a few little things to do were i will be completely happy with it. So far it seems to be how it was in my 2g. I think it goes into gear better than the eBay special. I will post some pics tomorrow when its finished. Thanks for the feed back.

Well i got it all installed last night and all the bugs worked out. I'm very happy with it. Now i just need some bushings for the plate that bolts to the floor with the shifter in it and it will be done.
