ive searched far and wide to find a b&m shifter for my 2g, but they have been discontinued :( so i hade to settle for a megan shifter. does anyone know who makes a shifter of equal quality to the b&m? .. or is megan as good as it gets?

I can also confirm that there are no marks or logos on the real B&M shifter. You can usually tell a real one from a fake by looking at the shifter piece itself. The real one is CNC machined and you can see where it was milled and how it was precisely done. The fake ones dont have finished milling as nice as the B&M and they usually have a nickel coating on them.

B&m shifters are ok in my experience. Not the best. I had one on my last mustang. I'm new to dsm's so I'm not to sure what's available for them as far as shifters. Mgw was always my favorite.

Well this is mine. It seems real!:D

I installed my B&M knock-off yesterday, I absolutely love it.

My boyfriend got it new from somebody on Craigslist (he was selling off his DSM parts, and he had never installed the shifter) so I dont know where he originally bought it.

I found this one on eBay if anyone is interested, looks identical to the one I just installed:

I think Buschur still carries B&M shifters. Still priced at 180 but if they still have a few stocked and for sale you know its legit.

Companies like B&M, that focused mainly on domestic vehicles and then took a chance on the import market later, likely will continue to drop the slower selling import markets first in an effort to combat the sales hit from the knock off companies. They'll do what they can to spread the losses across their product line up but I can see them not wanting to waste their time producing products for small markets like ours with all of the cheap competition that they'll never be able to keep up with.

It makes sense that they consolidate a little and drop the slower product lines. Cheap cars like ours are destined to lose the better quality expensive parts because of the cheap knock offs - just how it goes. I found a used B&M shifter for my 2G that I still need to install. I hope it's authentic.

sorry don't mean to hijack the thread (hope it's ok to post this here) but this thread got me questioning what is in my car.
Back in 1996 or so I bought what I thought was a B&M kit but I didn't remember it having the blue pictured in this thread. So I just took the console out and took this pic. Any clue what this is? Maybe an early version of the B&M?
