Hey guys I'm looking to find a tcu online but can only find either N/A or AWD models. I currently have a fwd tsi will the AWD tcu work? I have a 91 so looking for the 1g model. Or if anyone from the Spokane area is reading this please PM me.

You need a 3 plug TCU, Only one from a 91 or early 92 will work to plug in. As well you need an Awd one for the right shift points or Any if it's Eprom with the proper chip/code in it... .

See Here for the right part numbers. :thumb: Though it's most likely a MD750092 that you need.

I've been doing quite a bit of work with the 1g 3 plug TCU's, but utilizing the M673 ROM image(AWD), and have compared the M674 ROM image(FWD Turbo). I can tell you that for the most part that by comparing the two images within TunerPro, they are almost exactly identical.

I know this to be true for the most part, unless the M674 ROM that I obtained was changed by the person who shared it.

The only differences between the two that I saw was 3 bytes. Two of which being branch opcodes in regards to the handling of the transmission temperature light, and the other byte being the last two numbers of the ROM image, which is stored in a table, and requested via serial interface.
