alright i have a few all wheel drive questions that some of my friends havent been able to answer for me.

1. did mitsubishi start to make the awd trannys better in '92? I have heard that the '92 trannys have a special double synchroed second gear.

2. did all awd cars come with the same amount of traction control. by this i mean did they all come with rear differentials and the same amount of all wheel drive equipment? im a newbie when it comes to the awd systems on these cars.

3. my '92 talon has two recalls. one for the transfer case and one for the timing belt/ camsheft seals. what exactly is the camshaft seal/timing belt one for. do they just inspect the units or do they do any replacing?

thanx

As far as I know, the 'weak' transmissions are the ones made in 1990 to early 1991. They're identified by having 22-spline output shafts. Most 1991 - 1994 transmissions are identified by 23-spline output shafts. Keeping that in mind, I've had a '92 with a transmission from hell and now I'm driving a '90 with butter smooth shift action. If you do swap between 22 and 23 spline transmissions, you'll have to change to a matching transfer case as well otherwise it won't fit.

No. Some awd cars were equipped with a limited slip differential in the rear, identified by an orange warning sticker located on the driver's side door sill.
