Hey Tuners,

I know there are several threads covering the topic. But not to the extent that I'm looking for.

My problem is; Flex pipe leaking and there's little time to drive the car before storing it this winter and changing my setup to a gt35r come spring.

My fix is; just cut and re-weld a new flex pipe in as I don't want to spend the money on a aftermarket DP.

My question is; what are the dimensions of the flex pipe? I know the inner diameter is roughly 2.25" or 2 and 3/8's of an inch. But the actual length? so I can find a new flex pipe and not have to dismount the OE DP, measure it, then go to a parts store. If someone here knows the length and I.D. of flex pipe I'm looking for, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Tuners! :thumb:

If you have a stock downpipe, it is extremely restrictive. I believe the stock downpipes on DSM are press bent.

You plan on running a gt35r in the future, you are going to need to fork out the money for a high flowing exhaust system, mandrel bend. If you have the funds to build a gt35r DSM then you can afford an aftermarket downpipe or have one fabricated for you.

As far as answering your questions:

and just measure the length of the flex pipe that's on you car now if you dont know the length to get.:thumb:

Bro, I appreciate the time you took to respond to my question, but it doesn't help me at all. Sorry, but it seems as though you didn't read through my post carefully.

I read your post,

The link I provided, states that the stock downpipe is 2.25 inches.

If the piping is 2.25 OD it should still work with welding it to the stock section. You can use mild steel and it doesn't have to be anything thicker than 2mm thick steel

You dont have to dismount any pipe to find the length of the pipe, just crawl under and measure. The flex pipe on a stock downpipe should be parallel to the ground/floor, it should be visible enough to measure.

In fact this is your answer:
Summit Racing SUM-642210-1 - Summit Racing® Flex Joint Pipes - Overview - SummitRacing.com

It slips over the stock exhaust so you dont have to weld, just cut out the flex section and clamp the ends.

Jack the car up and look, there is no way for anyone to know if your car has the flex pipe that came from the factory or if there as been an aftermarket one installed.

Now this is helpful! :D THANK YOU! part is ordered!

It's OE, as I mentioned in my original post. And I was trying to avoid having to look FIRST then go find one after, as I plan to change it tomorrow, but live 30 minutes away from any parts store that carries exhaust parts. Hence why I asked if anyone knew it's dimensions. I'm in town today and would rather pick it up on my way home instead of looking at it first then go back into town..yaddi yadii yadda, you know what I mean.

Thanks anyway though, as always, I appreciate the help from you guys! :thumb:
