I am posting about the plug and play Autronic boards for the Eclipse, AutronicDSM.:D This is a direct replacement board that is placed inside your ecu case and runs the car. Check this link for all of the features:

http://www.autronic.com/specials.html

The retail on the Autronic board is around $1600 and includes autotune, anti-lag, launch control, traction control etc. It is one of the best stand alone systems on the market and not priced to steeply when compared to a Tec 3 and Motec M48 Pro. Also it does not require a custom harness and wiring ( 10 hours labour) to install it. A big plus in my book. This system is used on various rally cars around the world with great results.

Hello GRNDSM,
This plug and play board works for the US market 90-99 DSM as well. All it requires is am Autronic o2 sensor. I think the entry price may have kept more people from running this system, and also as you mention on their site it makes no reference to the DSM compatibility. By the way we have a Lancer EVO VII coming in to dyno today. Should be interesting to see what a stock EVO VII does against our stage WRX packages.

The AEM EMS does the same... although it does not fit in the factory ECU case... and it's a little cheeper.

One thing I do like about the AEM though, is that it has a serial port on the side, no more OBD2 Cables getting in the way of the gas pedal..... the Autronic uses a 3.5MM head-phone style plug from looking through their add quickly.

you're on crack, replacement board you're talking about is same as smc NOT sm2. and you said you just got WRX board and puting it in your eclipse.

it also requires their analyzer to output wideband o2 (i assume that's what you're refering to as autronic o2 sensor because that's all they sell) reading as 0-1V. if you hook up wideband straight to it it will only work as narrow band o2 (i forgot the range).i have that info straight from the source.

i'm going to call it bs again because when i bought my sm2 i asked ray about these p'n'p boards and he said it wouldn't work on our cars. also i spoke awhile ago with some guy who was working with ray on pnp board for dsm's so i guess that would just prove that EVO board won't work? did you actually install it in dsm, if so i'm curious which EVO model did you use?

That is interesting... Are you aware that you can not interchange 1G and 2G ECU's? Starting with harness plugs and ending with sensors, they are VERY different! OBDI vs OBDII and everything else that goes along with it...

I can't see how it can be "plug and play"... But please, prove me wrong! I would love to see such system for DSMs!

read my posts above. that guy is full of ####. ray hall (guy behind autronic) himself told me it wouldn't work

Hello Autronic DSM. Before calling B.S why not LOOK at my sig? I am the manager of Vishnu Performance in Pleasanton who is one of the importers of the Autronic plug and play boards. I just received our first WRX board which we are about to test. The EVO boards work on the Eclipse acording to Steve Nichols at Aussie Imports who is the official U.S importer of Autronic. Ray Hall is not the man behind Autronic, that would be Richard Obear(sp) who is the designer of Autronic. Ray Hall is the Aussie exporter and who sent us our board. This is Steve Nichols information:

Plug and play means take out the ECU board and replace it with this one and place an Autronic air temp sensor before the TB, after the intercooler. If you would like more information or want to place an order please call Steve, he has the boards on the shelf. Thanks for the technical discussion gents.

Steve Nichols has. I am getting one for my 97 GSX shortly to test and I will update you on my progress. I am unfortunately awaiting a 6 bolt motor for my crankwalked 97 7 bolt. Hopefully that will arrive next week as there is no reason to put an Autronic on my slow 143 WHP pile at present. By the way we just dynoed a stock Mitsubishi EVO VII that made 217 WHP on 91 Octane, and 230 WHP on 94 Octane. This is on our Dyno Dynamics dyno which reads lower than a dynojet by about 15%. Later guys.

Ray Hall is the guy who does all the support for it so to me he's the guy behind it. I know because I've researched autronic pretty well and I've talked to him many times. I know who Steve is too. He's at Fast Enough Performance. When I talked with him about installation issue I had he wasn't aware of these boards working on dsms. How long has he been selling these for our cars?

I called it BS because I've seen too many shop owners talk crap and nothing else. "oh we can build you 10 sec car", "oh dude i made 350whp out of 14b on my dyno". i personally know a guy who was constantly talking about putting t66 or t72 on his car and being competitive with buschur and extreme whenever i went to his shop. last shootout i've heard he was pulling 13sec runs tin can car he built. so you see, i don't care if you're owner of a shop or not. i know that year ago when i was buying autronic they didn't work on DSMs. If that changed then I owe you apology but I will check with Steve anyways since i found a cheap 1G I would like to run Autronic on too :thumb:

Have you actually put one of those boards into a DSM?

Looking at the pics of EVO board, the plug looks like 2G on both EVOs. 1G ECU plug is different. I'm still little skeptic about that board working on our cars.

Also connecting air temp sensor is not all you have to do :) all Autronic ECUs use internal MAP sensor so you still have to run vac line to it. There is SMD standalone that works with MAF too but I haven't seen it yet. All I know that there's settings for it in the newest software.

We are finishing testing on 2nd Generation Eclipses. The EVO PNP board have
the same connector. I have tested it on one car (95 eclipse) and it worked
fine. We do not have a board for the 1st Gen cars.

This is email I got from Steve. So Brett I owe you apology, you're only partially full of #### ;) EVO boards will work on 2G only since 1G is a different plug. bummer. you actually got my hopes up that I wouldn't have to do wiring on 1G.

I go to scool in Daytona Beach at ATC (Advanced Technology Center) I was in Dyno Class and wanted to know if there was any way I could test my firends' and my car on the dyno. My teacher told me that there are only 8 in the United States So I find that sort of bad. The person Who owns it is part of a Major WRX Club. So He bought/Financed the Dyno for his shop The Shop Is called Empire Motorsports. :thumb: :thumb:

maybe 8 at other schools, i'm sure there's lot more though, just not everybody knows. school i go to is geting awd dyno soon and i know a guy who is in charge of labs so i'll have full access to it on the weekends

The best thing is to get to be friends with the guy who owns or teaches on it. Free Dyno Tuneing will save you some serious cash. :D

as far as i've been told you do NOT need to have a welded diff. buschur told me that they could convert it in 30min and its $75.00/hr
