Okay someone told me that GSXs have brakes on all four wheels, and then someone else argued with him that they only have two, on the front.

Got me kind of confused because they were talking about upgrading break and how brake kits cost so much for only the front, so to upgrade the back it would cost more.

So my question, do GSX have AW (All wheel) brakes?
 
I've never heard of a car that didn't have brakes on all 4 wheels and i guarantee you that no DSM is like that. Some cars have drum brakes on the rear instead of disc brakes but all cars have brakes on all 4 wheels. Whoever told you that you only have brakes on the front is a complete retard.

You have an awd dsm, you have all wheel disc brakes, possibly someone told you that dsms have rear drum brakes, but this is only true on the lower rs and some esi trims. Like above, all cars should have 4 brakes
 
I think you only got half of the story. What they probably where saying is that the brakes on the fronts when comparing a GSX and a GST are different. The GST's have single piston calipers on the front and the GSX's have dual piston calipers on the front. However the rear brakes are the same on the GST and GSX. But every car that I have seen in my life have brakes on all four wheels. It is just a difference between disc brakes and drum brakes.

Here is all the info you will need about the upgrade. So that next time you talk to them you can inform them correctly.

Personally, I don't think there's a need to upgrade brakes unless you're putting down some serious power. The way I see it, there's a lot more to spend your money on. Instead of getting "big" brake upgrade kits, you can get different brake pads, brake fluids, etc. and those will all help slowing down better. Also, if you get like 13" brake rotors, you'll probably need to get larger rims to fit the brakes. Just make sure to reserach it all before spending money.

WTF can't be!
Even thought any car must have drums (little drums) in the back. That is how parking break works ;)

My 1G 91 AWD has disc and drums as well.....

All cars do have small drums on the back like you said, and their usually referred to as "drum in hat". The concept is that the inside of the rotor has a friction surface, and cable operated pads push up against it the keep the car in place on a steep hill, or whenever you use the parking brake.

No all cars don't.

For example the 1G's use an integral parking brake that clamps the pads on the rotor using the piston when the parking brake cable is pulled. The rear disks on my MR2 are the same way.

The 2G's use the drum in disk parking brake.
