Thanks for reading. Question about the driver side front axle on a 1G - I know it doesn't pop in like the passenger side, but should there be a noticeable gap visible or should it be pretty much "green" / trans without much of a gap? It is not leaking, but the "gap" area shows traces of being wet. I would say the gap is about 1/4 inch.

What "gap" are you talking about? What does "green/trans" mean?
Are you talking about where the intermediate shaft goes into the trans?
 
Yes. The way that it bolts up I wouldn't think you could "mess it up" but it has been almost 10 years since I had a trans out of this thing. Here is a picture:

yeah, definetly not seated. Im looking at an assembled axle/intermediate shaft on my garage floor right now and there isnt near the gap there is on yours.
