No new upgrades since last event (replaced my steering rack and TRE boots and got an alignment since then) so I'll get right to the point.
Hot weather meant an even playing field with a dry track for this event. Fewer drivers overall compared to the spring enduro, with a total of 38 this weekend. However, there were 9 people in my class this time compared to 5 before, so a bit more competition. The cars in my class ranged from a stripped five liter mustang with suspension and slicks, through several nissan 240sx's, a wrx, an E30 bmw, and a stripped late 80's celica with a V6 engine swap.
The course was a lot of fun, a little under a minute with several pretty fast sections with several turns taken at the top of second gear. One of these began at the end of the front straight, pretty fun because you could pitch it in in third gear and let the slide dissipate speed down to about thirty mph as the turn tightened... needless to say I messed this one up on my first run and took a dnf. The rest of the runs were good, with a 57.0, 56.5, and a 56.7. I quit after this even though I still had one more run. One reason was that I was starting to over drive and wasn't getting faster. The other was that I noticed that my tires are wearing at an astonishing rate - almost down to the wear bars on the corners of the tread after 2 events and 2000 miles...
Anyway, I placed 2nd in class, being beaten by over a second by the mustang, 11th overall, which is a small improvement over last event. What made me really happy though was that I was the fastest AWD car there out of 6 total, which means I finally beat that 03 evo! (I was actually the fastest street car there as well, everyone that beat me was on slicks) Yeah it was only by .15 sec but...
I also got to drive my friend's first gen MR2, which was fun in a slow, mid-engined sort of way. And just for laughs took my sister's subaru forester out during the practice session. It was surprisingly fun, three wheeling in every corner and even getting it up on two wheels once...
I also drag raced friday night just for fun, ran a 14.6 off a 2.3 sec 60'
Yeah, I was pretty much the slowest car there, but dragging is not really my cup of tea anyway...
