Just had to say how great it feels to be racing again! The weekend started out sunny and warm, perfect conditions, and the event was maxed out at 60 contestants. I was in the afternoon practice session on Saturday, so i spent the morning wandering the pits, checking out a GT40 replica, some Cobras, Corvettes, etc, and noticing that once again I was the only DSM present :toobad:

Since last season I had installed a Sparco bucket seat, RM swaybars, RRE upper and lower intercooler pipes, ditched my AC, had put 1000 miles on my new set of Bridgestone RE-01R's to break them in, and installed my new SS braided brake lines (funny story - in testing out my new brake lines I ended up glowing my rotors, so it looks like better brakes are next on the upgrade list), so to say that I was excited to try it all out and compare times would be an understatement. New pavement on the track only made things better.

Anyway, Saturday afternoon practice was good, I took five runs and my times were looking good at consistent low 59 second runs and a couple 58s were, which were similar to a couple evo 9s and faster than all the subarus. And I was giving friends rides so I had a little extra weight. After practice ended I stopped by two different truck weigh stations and they both said 3350 lbs with me, half a tank of gas, and my tools. I figure that alone it is around 3175, which is less then I expected. YAY!

The main event on Sunday was unique because it was the first event of the season. Called the Spring Enduro, it is run on a kart track (all the meets are, no parking lots here) and consists of five consecutive laps. Six run groups, me in the second one, and a dark and ominous sky overhead, which turned to light snow at the end of the first run group. Needless to say I made sure that I was the last person to grid up when they called my group. This paid off nicely because by the time I went the track was drying out nicely.

I went out, my tires were feeling amazing, and I turned in five consistent laps with only a couple small mistakes. I came in and a friend told me that i had turned in four low 58's and a low 59 on the last lap due to brake fade. My final time was 4:53.xxx, the first time into the four second range, and the best overall time so far by almost fifteen seconds, despite being the 19th contestant to run. Yeah, hollow victory because the weather was still clearing up, but the evo 9 on slicks that ran later in the day was only four seconds faster... Anyway, the funniest part was afterwards when people kept coming up to me wondering what I had in my car, and I had to keep telling them that it was mostly stock.

All in all a great weekend, can't wait for the next round!

Not sure why that first section is showing up, it didn't when i previewed it...

Also, the picture is of my brakes post SS brake line testing :)

One last update: Final results were just posted up and I came in 18th overall out of 60 contestants, first in class ahead of four others. Unfortunately I did get beat by an 06 evo on slicks by 4.5 seconds, an 09 wrx on slicks by 5 seconds, and by an 03 evo on street tires by 1.5 seconds!! I really wanted to beat him, but maybe next time...

Corrections: all my lap times were within .6 seconds of each other, and all were 58's. Also, one of the evo's was an evo 8
