I know it's hard to diagnose a problem without seeing, hearing, or being able to drive the car yourselves..but nonetheless, I'm hoping the members on here can help give me some input on what is going on with my transmission and/or what I am in for in terms of repair.

This is what's going on:

I noticed absolutely no problems with the transmission leading up to this. The overdrive button was engaged, the transmission slipped out of gear, and the car was pulled over. The fluid does smelled burned. Since that incident, the car can't make it out of a parking lot without the transmission slipping.

Is this problem electrical or mechanical? Will an end clutch solve the problem or should I just get a rebuild done or entirely replace the transmission?

FYI: this is on a 95 Tsi AWD
