I'm wondering what all should I do? The car is a 97 fwd tsi. I bought the car from a guy who had droped into 1st gear going 80mph. blew the block apart so i put in a new motor but the tranny seemed fine. the car has 120k

Last 2 months or so if you get on it ,seems like it allmost pops out of gear and just fee revs some and shifting is slow.

I have a bb50 trim i'm putting on and all suporting mods..

I'm doing ITPs tranny rebuild my friend is a mitsu tech he is doing the rebuild.

I want to do everything at one so i don't have to pull it again.. should i buy a new converter also? Also what other mods should I do while its out?

This is the first time I have ever owned a automatic car.

Also the car is daily driven with an average of 500-1000 miles a month

If you are going to generate a lot of horsepower, there's a bunch of mods that may need done. Right now, I'd absolutely replace the torque converter. No doubt about it. I would also flush out the cooling lines very thoroughly. I may even consider an after market outboard transmission cooler as the cooler the fluid, the longer the transmission lasts.

None will survive a shift like happened to you though.

Good Luck

should i get one with a higher stall? Or just go stock. And as far as the cooler what should I go with.

Sure, you can raise the stall. Remember though the higher the stall, the more heat you are going to generate. Heat is the biggest killer of automatic transmissions.

As far as brand, I'm not sure, I would be more concerned with size. Some of the vendors on this site probably are a better judge of which one than I am, however get a good one that dissipates a large amount of heat as you are going to need it if you raise the stall.

Good Luck

Ok I called them i'm getting a new converter, the valve body kit, or filter and pan, boost controller, oil cool, trans rebuild kit , and a rebuilt pump

Your car should really come alive when you get it done. Auto's are the way to go.

yea but yours hauls ass. I'm on the local board and have seen your car at the track a few times
