auto tranny hard shift no matter what

when bought this car for 400.00.it was stuck in limp mode ,well put in a tcu and that fixed that problem.however, it has always had this hard shifting ,and when i slow down at a stop sign and at both my downshifts it is really hard and i can hear and feel the thud!.. so does anyone know what my problem is ?by the way it does shift when it is supposed to.

Could be any number of things really. But its deff internal to the transmission. i would bet something broke in ## transmission. Either ## clutchs are worn out or something wront with the bands in there. Have a tranny shop drive it for u. probably wont cost u anything
