I have a 95 Avenger 420A auto and i been having issues with it. Ill be driving and slowing down then all of the sudden will feel the car shift hard into second and stick there.. ill turn car off and an back on then its normal again. Then occasionally ill be cruisin down the freeway and it will come out of gear. ill shut it off and then start it back up. put it in D and runs fine. Anyone have any ideas?

What does the "harness wiring" to & from the "sensors" and "solenoid block" look like respectfully in age, and their shape, condition?

not bad.. old but not bad.. No Bare sections from what i saw. but may have to check em again. Thats the 1st thing i thought of.. maybe just have to peel all the wire loom and tape back and me sure no wire are touching or grounding out.. but if not that any other ideas?

To me, it sounds like it is not fully contacting all the way, and when you hit a bump, or whatever it might be it jumps out and kills it. Have you had any other problems with the car, or CEL come up? If not, then have it scanned to double check if the ECU has spotted anything, I have to say it sounds electrical.

When my trans cooler lines leaked and I was low on trans fluid, my GST shifted like poo. It would shift whenever and where ever it wanted and failed to go into OD. Topped her off and she still runs like a champ. Check the fluid and for small leaks on the lines.

I have no tranny leaks. but now I hear a noise that sounds like exhaust rattle, and it only does it in gear. Great I think see a trans rebuild possabilty coming. So a shift kit and stall converter sound good for that? Was planning with that anyways but kinda wanted it to last till I got back from my military obligation. So ill check the wires from the trans comp to the sensors and other electrical trans components and keep u posted. But in the mean time, a 3k stall and shift kit will do nice in a rebuit tranny. So anybody make stall coverters and shift kits for these bad boys?
