Im looking at buying an awd laser. He sent me a pic of the ecu. He tells me that its a manual ecu. I dont know the part #. The only thing i could find out is that an Ea02 is for an auto any help?

YOu would need to number off the outside t be sure. Many of the Auto ECU's were eprom. You can use it in your car if you socket it and get link, or drop down to 390's. The difference in the ECU between manual and auto are the injector sizes (for the 1g)
 
That is fine and actually a nice upgrade on an auto car. A manual ECU in and auto car lets you run 450's and the 14b. The ECU does not interact with the TCU nor are they dependent on each other.
 
I cannot tell from the board alone, so if you want confirmation i'll need to see the outside case.

Now to clear up some confusion here in this thread.The auto cars did have smaller injectors compared to a manual car 390s.They also had higher fuel pressure.Also. The auto ecu is just a shit ecu.The manual ecu in an auto car allows for brake boosting while not retarding the timing.Which the auto ecu will do if you try launching an auto with the auto ecu.
 
Get the capacitors changed too right away. It would be a shame to loose another nice EPROM ECU to leaking capacitors.

All you need to make that ECU stock for a manual car is the EA01 chip. Most of the aftermarket chips are based off the E931 code and they will work too.
 
Supposedly they were already done. They went bad on him and he replaced capacitors and resistors. I'm trying to figure out who makes the chips now sense dsmchips doesnt do it anymore.
 
I didn't look close to note that they weren't the originals. All I saw was the corrosion around C14 that should be taken care of and any more that I couldn't see.
