Chilliwack,
im about to install 2 12" alpine subs and amp and im wondering where most guys put there power wire in through the fire wall. whats the best place to put the power cable from the battery to the amp?

I have a 92 Eagle Talon TSI. I have some wires that are fed through the firewall near the brake booster. Be sure to run your power wires away from your RCA cables or else you run the risk of engine noise or interference. I believ the guideline is atleast 12" away. In all the setups that Ive done, I always run the power wires down one side of the car and all the audio/RCA cables down the other side of the car.

On the 2g, passenger side where the passenger rests their feet there is a gromet behind the carpet and such. The engine wiring harness goes through this and makes for an easy area to route a cable/wire and still remain professional looking. Good luck

Make sure you ground it to steel. There is a piece of aluminium bracing or something that is at the base of the rear seats that is a ridge that sticks up like an inch. I think this is aluminium and is a bad ground. It will cause noise and other bad stuff, so keep your ground less than like 16 inches and a good spot is in or around where the factory cd changer goes.

Like somdturbo said, run your big, honkin' 12V supply through that gromet.

I ran it from there down the right side of the car. I ran my preouts down the middle and speaker wires down the left. Forget where I ran the matching, big, honkin' ground.

Power - Grommet under passenger feet rests, pass through firewall, in-line fuse 10-12" from battery. Run with remote turn-on wire to trunk compartment.

Ground - Rear strut tower, Spare tire tie down. Try to keep within 24" of amplifier.

RCA Cables - Run on opposite side of power wires to the trunk compartment.

Power and ground should be 4 gauge unless both your suibs combined are below 1000w.

Remote turn on 14-16 gauge.

Directional RCA cables are best if not, make sure they are shielded.

I do this day in day out :) Good luck, hit me up if you have any Q's

Where is the best place to tap in for the remote wire? I'm using a stock 2G head unit, is there even a remote wire on it? I'm trying to get my amp to turn on/off with the head unit, not the acc.
