how hard is it for me to install a cd player myself after removing the oem radio with the equalizer?

Its actually really easy. The most important thing that you will probably need is a wiring harness for a nice clean install.

Gravy. Get a harness adapter which goes to the radio harness, and lets the new one plug straight into the factory plug on the car. If you get the radio from Crutchfield, they include the kit with a storage box and the harness adapter, along with excellent instructions. It's worth paying them an extra $20 for all of it.

Also, don't believe them when they say a given radio won't fit the TEL. There's gangs of room back there, apparently more than they think there is. And the outside (heigth and width) measurement is standard.
