Does a cracked valve cover affect boost?
Also now that im at it i changed my radiator cap and thermostat because my heater was not working and it still isnt. Now i read how to bleed the system for air but could air in the system actually be causing the heater not to work? And the it blows air just not hot.

no and no. Backflush your heater core. Also lookup do the 2gs have an electronic valve to change flow through the core? I know other mitsus do and 1gs definately dont. 1g has a mechanical cable.

A cracked valve cover shouldn't affect boost, but air in the cooling system will definitely cause cold heat.

DSMs don't have a water valve that affects fluid flow to the heater core, but maybe the previous poster was referring to the blend door that directs air through, or not through the heater core. All cars have that.

If you don't have air, and your blend door moves, try flushing the core. I have seen (on rare occasion) debris clogging airflow through the heater core too, so if all else fails, you can look into that.

Are you losing coolant? If you are find that leak which is how air is getting in and hopefully should solve your heat problem

Just had the same problem, and in Michigan, heat is a must. Turns out that mine was just losing coolant. Filled her back up to find the hole and was all good.

if you have an oem thermostat it has a little jiggle pin on it that usually faces straight up so you shouldn't get any air in the system . make sure you top off the coolant and let the car reach operating temp then touch the heater core hoses and they should both feel the same . if one is hotter than the other then your heater core is plugged an you can try to flush it. next thing is if they are both warm and you are not getting heat then its the blend air door in the heater .try moving the lever for heat to cool and see if there is some resistance . if you don't feel any then maybe the cable popped off.

The termostat is from an autoparts so no its not an oe but i noticed that hot air comeS out but only when im driving but when the car is idling no hot air at all.

Does the 1g valve cover fit the 2g? If it does im planing on getting one.
