Hello all
I started a stereo install in a 91 talon tsi awd..
its a complete install head unit and 4 channel amp
after removing all old componets(tape deck/radio and cd player/eq also removed the factory amp and gutted it to hide the cross overs for the new componets) and installing all new componets I tried to crank the car before testing the install and all I get is a click
I can hear the computer behind the radio doing something.

I was told that the radio has something to do woth the security system that came on the car from the factory but I am not 100% on that.

anyone have any ideas if that would keep the car from starting?

I tested the security system by locking the door and opening it without the key and alarm goes off when I shut it off, tried to start car again and CLICK.

I am at a total loss

(details for install) Alpine head unit using a aftermarket harness to wire into car harness, only using 2 wires power memory and ground to chasis,

Amp install kicker 350.4 to power boston acoustics 6x9 in rear and a pair of polk DB componets up front.

tested for 30 seconds and amp went POOP then car wouldnt start no fuses where blown inside or out

I know this may be a dumb response to some... but is your battery dead?? ive let mine go dead when installing stereos before and it took a long time to figure out because I still have lights etc.... CHECK IT! aside from that... I dont know about security system problems... a possibility... YES:dsm:

check battery voltage, and check the relay pack that sits behind the radio and make sure it is still grounded....the relay pack is what clicks when you attemp to start the car so it should be easy to find. Other then those 2 things check to make sure you clutch switch is being activated. There is a little rubber plug that sits in a hole on the clutch pedal, somtimes they fall off. There are 2 switches above the clutch pedal, one for cruise control, the other for starting. Press the switch in then attempt to start the car ( make sure its in neutral) .

I did check the battery (have killed a few myself) all voltages good
the kicker amp died 30 sec in to use

will check the other options you guys gave thanks for the replies should have some pics of the car up soon

assault: is that the pack that sits verticaly at the back of the radio opening?

As I can remeber, its the only pack back there with 2 relays, They will click when you atempt to start the car to make sure though....

ok turned out to be a bad ground on the kicker amp also the starting problem was the kill switch on the clutch pedal :) :thumb:
