Okay - I've had about the worst month trying to get this Walbro fuel pump into my car. I say month, because, well, it took two weeks to get the pump out of the car. From there, I had to cut the nozzle that's welded to the pump assembly because there wasn't enough line to flare.
From there, when I was installing the positive cable to the underside of the pump, <click!> the stud breaks. Shit.
So, here I am with a screwed up pump assembly, which I'm going to have to drill through to get this thing to work again.
Here's what I'm worried about, now.
I know I need to use heatshrink tubing and all, but I noticed that in stock form, the terminals for the power cords run in protected boots where it's not possible to cause a spark. However, when installing the Walbro, you have to remove the boots (which I will reuse) but they don't look like they're going to seal as well as they used to.
So, if fuel happens to contact both power terminals (+ and -) completing the circuit and causing a short, what keeps it from ripping me and the car to shreds when and if it sparks?
Am I just being retarded? I think this is something to really consider when jacking with fuel pump wiring!
