walbro install gone wrong help!!

i goto install my walbro 190 today, well i cant get the return line loose under car, somehow i managed to strip the 14mm nut while using a line wrench!! so now i don't know what to do. anyone know any tricks or how much it is to get the pump installed . any help would be great
 
I've never done a fuel pump upgrade in a 2g but is there room for vice grips? If it's already stripped that may be your only option.
 
use vice grips on the stripped side, and use a flare nut on the other side. There is enough give in the flex hose section that you will be able to twist it enough to get it loose, and then turn the nut by hand. And then decide if you want to replace the nut, or not go through the trouble, and just use the vice grips again to tighten it back on.

Im assuming you stripped the nut that turns around the metal line?
 
I too stripped the nut on one of my cars by using the correct line wrench. I ended up having to use vice grips and it finally broke loose. Just tighten the vice grips to where it is very very hard to squeeze them onto the nut. After some cursing it should break loose.
 
Well... I've just been witness to a 1G install, but we didn't have to touch the return line.

We did have to cut some of the feed lines though, because the fittings wouldn't come off.

What we did is just cut the fitting off, then clean each side of the bare pipe on either end. We bought some "fuel injection hose" (make sure it's injection, and not something else, it's rated for pressure) that fit the pipe, and hose-clamped it onto each side of the pipe. It turns out to be much easier to do than dealing with the crap-tastic fittings.

We also took some JB-quickweld, and smeared a little bit around the pipe where the rubber hose was going to clamp around it, just for extra precaution, make sure you let it dry first (if you don't, the JB weld doesn't hold up, and melts).

Forget going under the car. Waste of time.
Ok, go up to where your fuel pump is. See how the line runs under some sheet metal (under the pass. back seat). Using some tin snips, cut along the fuel line (dont cut the line!) about 7 inches out. Pull up a flap of sheet metal. At this point loosen everything up, and you should be able to get the pump out (don't worry abpout putting a lil pressure on the fuel filter when removing. Just fold it up!). Simply fold the metal back when your done. It won't effect anything. Now marvel at how easy that was.
 
Your initial post made it seem that you were fustrated/very unsure about changing the pump. Just trying to save you a few bucks rather than you taking it to a shop.

If you did the engine swap, how come a little FP is giving you issues? :p
