ok im a super noob on mods and upgrades, help me out as this is my first project and first car i ever get to drive LOL
so i got a dsm 95 automatic GST FWD

so anyways my car tranny got burned alot of times
now its fixed and car is moving all fine
i got an evo1 turbo installed , with all its pipes etc
but i got stock fuel syestem , im running low on boost until i upgrade my fuel syestem
but ym question is , with all that power , will my transmission hold on to all of that power????
my friend told me i should upgrade the following : bigger oil trans cooler + shift kit + end clutch upgrade
do i need to do these following to avoid breaking my trans again ?
or can a dsm trans hold all of that power? please help out.

What do you mean by "all that power"? Sounds like you don't have a very specific goal and you just want to throw parts at it. But to answer your question, a new/bigger clutch never hurts, especially since our cars are starting to be thought of as "old". The shifter bushings also wouldn't be a bad upgrade. And I've never heard of needing to mess with the trans cooler.

It's an Auto car. You can do a TransLab 175 shiftkit and it will take the lag out of shifts, but honestly, a bigger cooler is a great upgrade for Auto cars since heat is their worst enemy. Yes you could do a IPT end clutch but why? If it is shifting good and has all gears, put a good cooler on it and be happy. An Evo1 turbo is not gonna kill your transmission, it's a cute little thing! Hope that helps. All of your friends ideas can be done with the transmission in the car BTW so if needed down the line, you can do those upgrades as needed.
ShiftBoxes for Auto cars are also something that gets done so it shifts at full line pressure but it can be hard on HARD parts. I will have a review of FourcedFour's Shift 100.1 very shortly, so stay tuned if you want to learn more! It is an AWESOME product. More to come.

Nah, it happens. You were trying to be helpful.

I think the most important "modification" any new dsmer can make before they start doing anything serious is to learn how to do general maintenance on their car. Most importantly complete a timing belt job, make sure your driveline is up to snuff ie. bearings, brakes, suspension, bushings etc. Once all of these are either replaced of tested then and only then should you consider upgrading anything. The unfortunate thing about our cars is that it attracts people who want cheap power who end up destroying the motor and end up getting over their heads. How many poor talon/eclipses have you seen on craigs list with the head off the car under a tarp? If your really serious about the car then this is what you need to do.

I wouldn't say that these cars are difficult to work on but are definitely more complex than your average Honda. I think the fwd version is on par with a b16 swapped Honda. Your basic front wheel drive dohc 16v layout. Great cars to learn on. The awd versions are obviously more complex and can be difficult at times as your then dealing with a transfer case and driveshaft/rear diff. Generally speaking ^complexity=^$$$ Either way, you will find out quickly where your heart lies. You'll either be wrenching on your dsm or it will be on Craig list .....

I agree with the maintenance first portion. The first thing I did when I got my car off craigslist haha is all the maintenance, I mean who knows the last time it was done, or if it was even done properly. Lots of people do the timing tensioner wrong and it runs...for a little while until that one moment when your belt jumps a tooth or 5 and there goes your head. Maintenance is key and should be the first thing done, plus you get to learn every part of the engine :)

16g by itself is not all that power. In fact until you are able to turn up the boost you will probably be disappointed because IMO a good T25 feels like it spools up quicker at stock boost levels. Just bottoms out too quick. The small 16g does spool up quicker than a big 16g but you probably won't
notice a difference.
Either way I have stock trannys on two of my autos with no problems. Perfect crisp shifts at the proper rpms. I think it feels better and more precise than these overly complicated 6sp auto trannies with manual option on all the new cars. They tend to feel odd, like the shifts are too quick or scrambling to catch up to speed. As long as the tranny was properly maintained and filter changed these trannies can take a beating. Also, I still have the stock side mount trans cooler and it's fine. Unless you're going to be beating the piss out if it, you should be good.
Never mind, I just realized you said you burned it up more than once already. Since you obviously beat the piss out of it, better upgrade with a bigger smtc (I assume you already got an fmic for the 16g) and shift kit to start.

It makes me sad, probably why so many of our cars get hacked to pieces. Please go through and check everything before you go spending money elsewhere. You can't trust anyone these days, it's good when you see it's good....otherwise your just assuming.

brother , i appreciate your help ! thank you so much <3 dsm#1 !!
just one last question , whats best brand to get for oil cooler? are ebay fine ?
B & M....pick your size. Some are made for RV's so they are larger. I have run B&M coolers since 1978ish.....:thumb:
Never ever had a problem with them and my 90 runs a B&M oil cooler.

Aleelloo, how good does the car shift currently? If it shifts good, wait on the shift kit. Make sure it has a good clean filter and drive it. My TCU (transmission computer) went out and no replacements available so I had to go with a NEW, standalone unit, the ShiftBox 100.1. It gives line pressure control and has soft shift modes and sport mode where it uses full line pressure. My trans is stock and it hits very firm now. It was a bit pricey but it does everything the stock TCU did and so much more. Its like Link for an auto trans and I love it. I am still programming shift points but it makes the shifts nice and crisp. If your trans shifts fine, it would be up to you if you want to firm it up more and the Translab 175 will do that for you.

I will be doing a review of the ShiftBox 100.1 soon so others see how it works if there TCU craps out. I decided on it over a 25 yr old leaky capacitor computer.
Just keep watching for my review coming soon on it.
