Hey, I have a remedial question that I couldn't find. I just got an automatic AWD for the wife and since she'll probably keep the car in DRIVE while she races I was wondering about the automatic shift points. Currently with the stock 5-speed mods (cams, turbo, injectors, ECU) the car shifts at 6250 RPM. Is the TCU pre-set for that shift point, or is the shift point determined from data gathered? For example, If I upgrade to a converter, ported head, 272's, 50-trim and all the supporting mods, will the car STILL shift at 6250 or will it shift higher according to engine dynamics?

Thanks,

The TCU is pre-programmed to shift at points that will not move. My car in from first to second shifts at 6900 and from 2-3 at 6500. The only way to shift higher (which there really isn't a point to shift past 6500 unless you've got some work done) is to manually throw it into gear with the shifter or to get an electromatic controller, like IPT sells.
