i just installed a brand new flywheel on my motor. Its a 1.8 4g37 i am converting from automatic to manual.

I Bolted up the flywheel and the starter is about an inch away from contacting the teeth on the flywheel. Were the 1.8 starters diffrent for the manual & automatic cars?

Thanks

are you postive?
because i just checked autozone.com and the part numbers for both the automatic & manual starters are the same part number.

I just dont want to plop 50 bucks down for a starter that is the same LOL!

bump
a guy from mitsubishigraveyard told me the starters for the two cars are diffrent
but why would autozone have the same exact part numbers for each car?

doesnt make sence!
