So I had a total brain fart and I picked up ARP rod bolts and was going to swap them in my 6-bolt bottom end while I had the pan off just to be safe since I'll be pushing the bottom end pretty hard. The head is still on it and I didn't have any plans to pull the head right now. I didn't think about the fact that you need to recheck and machine the rods to be round again at the higher torque. My main question is this. Has anyone run stock torque on the ARPs? This would keep the bore from being out of round but I don't know what overall effect this would have on the strength of the bolts. I would think there wouldn't be a change because there would be less stress on the bolt but then again does that mean the bolt would actually be able to stretch some since it isn't under as much preload? Looking to see if anyone has or knows of anyone who has done this.
