I bought a used 6bolt motor from a guy and to show me it was good he pulled the rod cap and showed me the bearing etc.. Now I have to torque it back to spec and I've seen many differnent numbers. I have a manual it says 14.5lbs and a 90degree turn but isn't that for 7 bolts? I 've herd 36-38 and 38-41 lbs for 6bolts. Whats the right spec?

I don't know if he checked the main bearings but I want to double check to the torque specs to make sure everything at the right spec.

38 ft/lb is good..(for a 6-bolt)...make sure, you use assembly lube on the bearings and clean them good.
i would use some ARP molly lube for the bolts.( it helps lower the friction) when u tourque them down
also if you have the motor out, you might as well do all the rods the same .
personally i would throw a set of new bearings in there.
you can get a set of ACL'S for like 50 bucks.
