So im ordering the combo from extreme psi but what hg thickness do i order and what size bore on the studs its a stock 6 bolt im putting 280 cams with titanium valve springs and bc retainers i dont kno if that makes a difference. I need to know asap thanks guys.

Is it still the stock bore or is it bored .020 over?
Stock bore is 85mm.
When buying a HG I always bought the thinner one.
I'm sure someone can chime in on which one is right for its application

Just make sure you get the studs for your specific engine as there is a difference between 6 and 7 bolt studs. As for the HG i would suggest an OEM MLS over the cometic. The cometic mls suggests that you have both the head and the block decked but the OEM one only the head is needed to be done. Hope this helps.

If you were putting any brand MLS gasket on I would definitely have head and block decked. MLS gaskets need much better head/block prep then a composite gasket does. :thumb:

Not recommended, but I pulled my stock, 216k, head and installed a built head with a MHI metal HG without decking anything. The built head was previously used and had a smooth deck, so I carefully cleaned both decks, used WD-40 and a green scotch pad to scrub/buff the block deck and installed with a set of ARP's and have been running 30+psi on E85 without issue.

Again, I don't recommend that but it worked for me.

How much has been milled from the head?

if the head is past 5.185 I would recommend a thicker HG. JAM will not tho, it changes the quech and can cause Knock.

If you have a tune solution (Link) then it should not be an issue.

Now some reading for you...

You should def. Clean up the head and put straight edges
If no warp good to go. Dont want to deck unless necessary. Use oem everything.

?? Is this post intended for me? I already said that I installed the head with a metal HG and have been running around 30PSI for three months now with no issues.

Again, I don't recommend the way I did it to anyone because there was a risk I took, but after I cleaned and checked the head and block surface, I was pretty confident an OEM metal HG would work - and it did. I got lucky though.
