First time posting.. but anyways i was wondering if someone can help me out here i was looking under my car and noticed there was this small red and white wire unplug and it was stripped, so i was wondering if someone knew what this wire is and where is it supposed to be hook up to :rocks: The location of the wire is by the alternator...

Could be the oil pressure sending unit wire if it is hanging down. Not next to my FSM to check colors but that's a common wire to break.

welcome aboard any pics of wire? I mean we have a few wires that could be red and white...

im posting this on here cause I don't want any close family knowing... My girlfriend might be pregnant im so excited!!!!! we getting blood work done tomorrow!!!! DO YOU GUYS KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS??? Finally have my excuse to find a vr4 gallant!!!!!!

Congrats man, children are great. My daughter will be 2 in a couple of months. Greatest thing ever. Especially when she flips her little batter operated mater truck around and goes hmm, lets see!

Congratulations! :D Go ahead and buy a small wrench set!

Oh, I was meaning to ask you - You might need to be the route I go on the Talon. Stand behind your work pretty well? :) If so, send me a PM.

Marcopolo,

Get a picture of the wire and I bet we can figure it out.

Like already stated, my first thought is its the oil sending unit wire.

AJ, congrats
Kids are a blessing. Remember that sleep is underrated. ;)

yea that wire is just hanging down and it worries me because I know it has a purpose, I post some pictures of it later on in the afternoon

The Blue wire goes to the Bell which is the Oil Pressure Sending Unit.

The Yellow/Red wire goes to the dummy switch on the front of the OFH. This is what signals the light on your dash.

Note : I know the color for the word yellow is "orange" but Yellow doesn't stand out well enough on a white background. :p

Are you showing oil pressure on the dash? Could that not eliminate that wire being it if it is showing pressure when you start it?

Sup guys!? Ive been at LRAFB for over 4 years now, and JUST got me a 99 GST. Its a 5-speed with only 72k miles. :hellyeah: Blown tranny, only paid $2k bucks tho.

I had a 97 GST (profile pic) over 6 years ago, and loved it. Had crankwalk so i sold it. My wife said it would be cool if I got another eclipse, so i drove to Springfiled, MO and got it last weekend. Have two kids i love also! Need a lot of parts, so if you are near let me know what you got!

Motor Mount Bolts
Interior Trunk Plastic
and who knows what else.

Soon as I decide to buy the tranny I can start this baby up!

Later!

oh, if you wanna get together and turn wrenches and drink beer, i got the beer! :)

Yea it probably is the oil sending wire because there is no oil pressure when i start the car and maybe that is why the oil pressure needle just sits at the bottom of the gauge

Thank you all for your inputs... It is the oil sending wire :) will tackle that this weekend for sure. I know im asking too much but does anyone have an extra 450cc injector laying around that they can sell me, because my injector is still leaking fuel after I replace the Top O-ring and insulators at the bottom. Just let me know before I have to buy one from oreily's or some part store.

Member L7dropkick has a parts car that might have some stuff what you need in the back hard here. He is in OK atm... Might still have some interior plastic stuff..

Welcome back man, we are very active here.

On another note, I me and luke have had our eye on this 84 200sx for about 6-7 years, it was our cousins and was t drove very often. It sat out in his yard this whole time. He claimed it was a "brain" issue and wouldn't sell it.. Turns out he sold it to a guy who put a fuel pump on it and it runs and drives. My cousin now owns it, so I'm trying to talk him out of it. It is pretty clean besides faded paint )even has the louvers on the back( the wife says no, I'd really have to consider trading my cut straight up for it..

Glad you found the problem man, I would look for some injectors on here. If I remember getting a price quote on those once, they where ####ing outrageous.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but even if you bought bigger injectors, the fuel pump and ECU won't really push more than needed correct? That's why when I go to get injectors I was going to go a little bigger, so that way you wouldn't be maxing them out all the time, or is this false information?

Not sure I entirely understand your question but I'll answer as best I can.

Regardless of what the ecu thinks, any time you add larger injectors you will flow more than typical fuel. The ECU only helps the injectors pulse and then tries to adjust based on the 02 Sensor, but it can only adjust so much. If you toss 550cc injectors, your ECU might sense you are running a bit rich and try to add more air, but it can't do this properly. The 550 is still filled at the same rate as the 450, so when it pulses that extra fuel is there. Think of an injector like a straw. Put it in a glass of water, put your finger over the top, and pick the straw up. Visualize that water as fuel.

Now get a bigger straw and do the same thing. The first one is 450. The second one is 550. Now, by default you know that to add 450cc of fuel, you remove your finger for 180ms and then put your finger back for the 450cc injector. If someone didn't tell you that it was actually a 550cc injector then if you did the same for the 550cc straw, you would add more fuel simply because you were sure it was a 450cc straw.

Think of it like this - You come into work to do the job you've been given for about 20 years since the day you were born. Your only task is to empty these 450cc straws in time into a machine. One day, without notice, you come in and start doing your job but for some reason the machine is acting funny and you have no idea why, so you try adjusting the little air valve a little bit but can't quite get it right. It does this for a while until someone comes by and says "Oh, you're using bigger straws now."

Get it?

Yeah I get it, w/o a fuel controller it's doing more harm than good. Thanks.

Well I figured out why I wasn't making any boost I have two bolts broke off that hold my fuel rail down and both have been messed with and are all screwed up ...............already thinking about selling the car its becoming a pain

Been there, and the angle is wierd. If I could redo mine, I would pull the head off..

Look on the bright side, it isn't the white devil...

Heya guys wanted to say hey and introduce myself. I have a 91 talon (black cherry, awd, auto) that I have been tinkering on for over 10 years. I live and Cabot and am an old family man :)
This is my third Dsm and know the 1g very well. I have seen a few of the members on here around I have been meaning to try and meet a few of you. AJ I have seen ## car several times just never have time to stop when I see you.
I have my car apart right now going through some upgrades and repairs ;)
But this is a DSM forums you already knew upgrades and repairs where going on as that is a constant with these cars.
