Are these ECU's of any use?

I have two ecus, one is from a 91 galant vr4 and one is from a 90 turbo talon. If I have a 2g is there any use that these may serve or should I just sell them? Would these be of any use in a 94 talon tsi since I may be buying another one next week?

o ya check them and see if they have eprom if so you can reshocket them and go to Welcome! and get a chip made with the chip you can have stutter box,see knock,ect.you can put the ecu in 1g and 2g they are the same as far as i have noticed when i have put them in my buddys cars

You can't use those ecu's in your 2g,but if your getting that 94 talon like you stated,you can use that 91 galant vr4 ecu though & most likely it's a eprom

Ok so I will keep em for a while. As long as I have my 2g only there isnt really any way for me to test them right? Just pop them open and and see if they have an eprom huh?

ya pop them open and smell them if they smell like dead fish the they are bad. The caps have leaked and destroyed the ecu you will know if there are dead the smell is

When you open them up, look for the chip circled in red. If it's present, you have an eprom ecu. Eprom ecu's are worth more because they can be "chipped" to run different tunes. If you plan on getting a 1g, it might be nice to keep at least 1 eprom ecu.

Ok well both of these ecus look like they have leakage . So what now? Trash can them or are they still marketable?
