Are the lower brackets in the front bumper needed?

The previous owner of my car unfortunatly wasn't the greastest driver and the body of the car suffered. The front bumper and fenders were pretty beat up, and that lower brace that runs along the bottom of the bumper was broken in about 3 places. From what I can tell, that brace then attachs to some plastic piece on the car. That also was destroyed on my car as well.

So is that bottom brace really needed? Since I needed new parts I did the 97-99 front end conversion and it came out looking really good. The bottom of the bumper does flex a little bit if you push on it, but I'm wondering how much that bottom support really helps

The bracket isnt really needed. The aftermarket replacement bumbers may sag alittle without it. Its rare that is does though. The plastic stuff isnt really needed either. The cooling system is ample without the direction of the peices. Hope that helps a little
