Hi guys, I finally removed the mesh in my front bumper, and those plastic pieces the plug the holes. I want to know is there anything else to do the front bumper to make it look "cleaner"? I really like what Locke did with his, he painted the very center drop down piece black. Its a non-turbo so no intercooler to give it that racey look. Is there any front mount sort of things for a non-turbo car to give it a more racey look?:thumb:

You could always buy a cheap intercooler core off ebay and fake it.

The first and only time I saw one it confused me and then I laughed at it.

After i removed that mesh crap. i took out the fog light trim pieces and painted them. Here's what it looks like all said and done. Sorry for car's dirtiness, it's winter :thumb:

also if anyone has a write up on how to paint that drop down piece right in the middle of the bumper. idk a name for it. Crazy boy has his painted black.

thanks

I don't mean to thread jack but I wanna clean mine up to and commenting here is better then making another duplicate thread. What is that skinny pole thing in front of my rad, and the dent in my steal cross bar, is that a big deal? (it hit something when it was stolen).

I don't see the black piece, i have a SUPER NOOBIE question now.

I have always referred to the plastic as the bumper, but I was under an understand that the bumper is actually the steal under the bumper that is usually styrofoam.

Why are you guys going around removing the "plastic piece" in the middle(Its called and Air duct, its suppose to be there, it is suppose to be black in color and the reason for it is so that it can direct air towards the radiator).

And im not sure as to what your refering to as the skinny pole in front of the radiator is but your either talking about the center support or the power steering cooler lines.

That part that most people remove when they install a big FMIC is the crash beam/bumper. What you have called the bumper is a bumper cover.

I don't call it a bumper cover cause the people I normally talk to don't know cars, so it would just cause confusion.

Your sort of right LOL. what people refer to as the bumper is called the bumper cover. and yes the actuall bumper is behind the bumper cover.

That pole your talking about is a hood latch suppport.

How is it an air duct when it deflects air? Exactly what is passing through it when it's solid? Removing it and cutting or removing the bumper absorber allows MORE air to radiator/intercooler or whatever some dude decides to put there. And anybody can paint it to match their cover, there's no sacred rule to keeping it black.

Mines gone, what you see is the ugly ass absorber underneath. I forgot it was there and now I need to get rid of it.

That drop down piece is black from the factory. Yours is painted because the person before you (at least I'm assuming it wasn't you) got in a (hopefully minor) accident and replaced the bumper with an aftermarket look alike, when he had it painted, he forgot to tell them to mask that piece off. You can tell yours is aftermarket because it doesnt have the mitsubishi logo indented between the headlights. There was an indentation beneath the mitsubishi decal in the bumper cover. You can see the indentation in Wobet's pic. His piece is painted because when he did the 2ga to 2gb swap he made the same mistake as the previous owner of your car.

Nothing is suppose to go thru. Its suppose to make air get pushed upwards and into the radiator, Hence the name Air duct.

AIR DUCTS are meant for air to go THROUGH them. Air already passes into the radiator below the "air duct" and under the hood following the bumper covers curve. It's just a piece for show to make it look like an "air duct".
