Are JCC and NPR Pistons any good?

Hi all. I'm getting a 7-bolt built at overbore.com and the 7-bolt's they have come with either JCC or NPR pistons. Now I've never heard of these pistons and when I've searched nothing useful came up. So, I'd like to ask, are these pistons any good? Are they forged? Will they support my goals of 300-400WHP? Should I just get them upgraded to MAHLE, ROSS, JE, ARIAS, or CP pistons (those are the options)? Thanks all, Tom. :thumb:

If I'm not mistaken the JCC and NPR pistons are no better than a stock replacement. If your going cheap and want to run pump gas with no nitrous 1G pistons will be fine or 2g with a little higher ratio 8.5 to 1 instead of 7.8 to 1 (1G) . If your going aftermarket I'd go with Ross but thats just my personal preference. 400whp isn't hard to reach and only requires a few bolt-ons and don't forget tunning. Since you have a 7 bolt get some rods. Those things are like tooth picks. Or do a 6 bolt swap and call it a day.

Sweet thanks. I was thinking JE or Ross also. I'll definitely be getting some rods, the choices are SCAT ,CROWER & EAGLE RODS. I was thinking Eagle. Also, when going to a higher ratio will I able to run the car without tuning (which will come later)? Thanks, Tom.

Stock internals have been ran at your horsepower goals. If you are on a tight budget you could get away with saving the money on the forged parts and spending it elsewhere. You said you were getting forged rods, might as well get the pistons too. Just my thoughts.

Yeah I think so too, with regards to getting forged rods and pistons. I'm on a tight budget for the engine build, however every new paycheck expands my budget :sneaky: . I plan to spend more $$$ just don't have it right now and I need the engine ASAP. Any thoughts on which rods / pistons I should get? Ross pistons sound good to me but what about the rods? Eagle? Thanks, Tom.

I personally like the manley h-beams. Your stock internals are okay for your goals, 400whp is high with a 7bolt. Believe me when you get to your goal it won't be enough. It never is.

ARP studs for the rods. Gotcha ;)

Manleys are lighter and have been around longer. I'm not against eagle rods but if you can spare an extra 20 or 30 bucks I'd do Manley.

what kind of boost lvls or power will the npr/noa pistons hold up to reliably??? (excluding the fact that we are speaking of dsm's) :dsm:

so the npr pistons will be fine for my car thats a non turbo stock 6 bolt. there not gonna shit out ### there so cheap
