Apexi N1 vs Aeroturbine AT2540i....

I am looking to buy a nice exhaust system that has a very nice deep rumble to it that is aggressive but not overly loud. I am thinking of the Apexi N1 system or the Aeroturbine AT2540i (http://www.aero-turbine.com/buy/details_2540i.html) I dont know which will offer the best performance boost and capability. In the long run i will be racing my car and will be upgrading my turbo and the respective mods. I have a 95 TSi AWD 5 Speed that is all stock. What do you recommend would be the best exhaust system?

I'd just go with the N1 or even an HKS/BLitz I have the N1 sounds deep toned and not as annoying. Unless you want it to be

Thanks, but uhh, one other system i've been thinking about is the tanabe racing medallion. I've heard it on supras and it sounds incredible, does anyone have any experience with the sound and performance of it?

They all really sound the same. I've been to 4 shootouts and with 99% of the DSMs there having exhausts, not one stood out as sounding different.

Just get the cheapest one.

Ok but i am going to be racing autoX soon. I dont want to have my a crappy exhaust for that and i'll be putting on a bigger turbo with supporting soon too so any ideas for a good race exhaust yet tame enough for street?

dude the muffler itself isnt going to make much of a differene really besides looks worry more about what piping ,housing,cat, and what not. Any muffler works just depends what Looks you like do a search on exhaust clips i think theirs some sounds around here somewhere. use google

Just get the N1. It bolts up like stock, has plenty big piping, a big, fat stainless muffler, sounds awesome on the throttle, has a removable adapter to fit to the stock cat until you get a big downpipe and has a little silencer to fit in the tip for when you visit grandma at the old folks home. Oh, and none of those pesky U-bolt exhaust clamps to hold it all together like some other DSM exhausts.

It all boils down to whether or not you want an exhaust that has some racing development behind it (the N1) or an exhaust that has a bunch of marketing hype behind it (Aeroturbine). Besides, Apexi is selling a system with piping that fits like it came from the factory, Aeroturbine is just selling you a muffler...piping is your problem.

I paid $490 shipped for mine off eBay. You won't need anything bigger on an auto-x car. It's not like you're gonna be running a huge turbo at the auto-x.

i've thought about them but i like the look of the N1 best and i like the sound a lot too. I have considered the tanabe racing medalion system but i dont know, it's either of the two...

A pipe is a pipe, they all do the same damn thing -- let air pass through them. Go find yourself some 3" piping and a machine shop who can bend it for you, and voila, you have a 3" exhaust for ~$300. You also have a turbo, which basically acts as a 2nd muffler when it comes to sound, almost all turbo DSM's I've heard w/exhaust sound the same.

so u say go to a shop dat specializes in mufflers and piping and have them do a full 3" setup sounds like plan i heard a guy say dat to me but i guess it sotra slipped my mind

so muffler shops are the million dollar companies that are making them not HKS, Apexi, Greddy, or the other well know companies. man all this time i had it backwards. ITS A CONSPIRICY I TELL YA! :laugh:
