I have an apexi fmic on my car right now but i dont think thats its gonna hold up to the power i'm trying to make but i cant seem to find any info on the kit. So i was thinking about getting the vr speed factory fmic i'm just not sure. My mods are in my profile, i'm looking to make 400-500hp i just need to know if my fmic is gonna be a problem or if i should get the other kit.

Thanks, Shane

I would suggest the ETS FMIC. Itll offer better cooling than those two. If you wanted maybe 300-350, i would do a VR Speed, but my buddy with an evo picked up a few hp and a decent amount of less IAT when he switched from an Ebay to an ETS

For $320, I would do it. Looks like a 28"x10"x3.5" core, which would cool easily within the +85% range or even higher at moderate flow rates. The APEX core is maybe 1/2 the volume. This is almost the biggest core you could strap on to a DSM without some major modification. The major problem that I see is not so much heat soak, but the fact it doesn't matter what Intercooler you have on your car, at some point the engine is going to knock on pump gas if the boost and timing are high enough. I think that VR kit looks outstanding given the price.

Saying the ETS will cool better than our kit is an assumption. Until both are tested side by side, stating the ETS is better is an opinion not based on fact but simply based on price.

ETS makes great products but if it cools 5% better that doesn't really warrant the 300% price increase. Again, saying it cools 5% better would be an "assumption" and without hard evidence to prove otherwise it is just speculation.

I personally put down mid 400's on a mustang dyno with our kit and the core we use isn't a generic "ebay china core". It's a core made to our specifications which include changes to the internal and external fin packs. Just because the end tanks look similar to an ebay ssautochrome kit/AGP knock off/SBR/Kinetic kit doesn't mean it is. There have been countless revisions made to our kit which not only sets it apart in terms of performance, but also installation and reliability.

The Apexi should be fine for what you want. They're made to handle more than you would think.

The Apexi kit uses excessive piping and the core is extremely dated and small in comparison to what's available in the market right now. I wouldn't consider and Apexi or a Greddy kit on 2g with what's currently available.

We've sold hundreds of these kits throughout the past few years and I have yet to see an unsatisfied customer.

Here's a dyno comparison one from one of our customers that shows a direct comparison between our kit and a Hahn Racecraft kit which is pretty similar to the Apexi kit. The only changes were the FMIC kit, nothing else. Note that our kit gained 28whp and 29lbs tq over another FMIC kit. The gains in comparison to the stock sidemount or supra sidemount would be even more apparent.

Guys, for the money, its an outstanding deal. If I weren't already switching to E85 I'd be all over that VR kit. To put things in perspective, when FMIC's were first widely available they were going for $1300. I paid $750 for mine on a group buy back quite a few years and I thought I got the deal of a life time.
Whichever kit you buy, its going to blow the APEXi kit out of the water.
