this question is for people who battle lots of snow in the winter. I am planning on getting a tsi awd for traction issues ( i live in iowa, we get snow) now i want to upgrade and get more hp out of the talon, but that just means more traction loss in rain/snow. I was wondering if any of you tuners out there with a mbc actually turn your boost way down in the winter to help get more traction?? just curious :talon:

Getting around in the winter depends on you, not how much power your car has. Sure, if you floor it... it will be better to have the torque of a weed wacker, maybe just drive carefully. 99% of accidents aren't caused by power. It's lack of brakes, turning ability (too fast, too sharp, you're a female driver, etc...) Losing traction while accelerating briskly (in a straight line I hope?) won't throw you off the road, you will just go straight.

Most wastegate actuators are physically set to have a 10-12 psi threshold. Going below this will require you to get a custom wastegate actuator or some serious intake fabrication.

Yea you cant turn the boost down, just don't boost too much when you drive in the winter! Shift right before you boost too much, and I dont see what the difference would be ;)!

those sound like good ideas...

looks like my 98 yr old grandma is gonna be passin me down the street

i think everything will be fine, just gotta keep off the boost...

yeah right thats like having my wife naked in front of me and sayin you can't get none OMG

I was running 15 psi when we had the last snow (look in my galleyry for the pics of the snow) and had no traction issues what so ever. The awd has more traction than you think. I have a 99 f250 4wd with a powerstroke and prefer my talon in the snow.

too much boost for the snow wont be an issue. if you are at all worryed. ya could always get blizzacs. ( blizzacs + awd = can pull a stuck snow plow out )
