Anyone run TCE BSL/1.10" brake kits on a 1G?

So it's an Enkei RS7 17x7.5....what is the offset?

I'm thinking of running 17x8 +35mm 5Zigen FN01-RC and want to run a similar brake setup...I might just bite the bullet like you did and see if it fits. If not, I either return the wheels or make it work with spacers.

We should turn this thread into a wheel/brake fitment database.
By my calculation I've got 44mm offset, but that can't be right. Its 1 3/4" from the half way point. I had the wheels since last spring & can't afford to look into more appropriate wheels for a while. F.Y.I. my calipers are the ones with the thinner outer half. Not the ones that take the thinner pads, though. Those can heat up a bit I'm told.

Ok, as promised, here is a shot of my new brakes! :thumb:

Looks good, although this was the last "reply notice" I got before the site went down. I think your brakes broke the internet :D

May have stopped the internet ROFL ROFL these things STOP, no joke. Even with cold H compound pads, they are sick. OMG Pedal feel is so light it's scary, with less travel too. Makes me think maybe of converting to manual. I'll post how they are on the track after this wknd. :thumb: Are you still reading this thread, Chris?

Mine are on the way. I'm getting the big bore FSL kit. The piston area is almost identical to the 6-piston kit and I'll have more wheel choices (without spacers)... we'll see.

underradar92, did you replace your master cylinder with the 2g version? What's the pedal feel like? (you should really put your first name in your sig so I don't have to call you underradar92)

Stock M.C. I believe it is the 1" bore style. Pedal engages a bit higher than before, possibly due to higher sensitivity/friction/ss.hoses/all of the above. I'd have to say travel after engagement is so little changed as to be a non-issue. I'm really happy with them, even with the spacers there is still no tire rub, on the track, or street. If I included my name I wouldn't be so under the radar, now would I? Jim. :talon:

Both have the same bores if I recall.

Cars with the smaller 15/16MC can benefit from the smaller bore caliper.

Larger with larger, smaller with smaller. Keeps things in check. Only when one mixes this incorrectly does the pressure change. There are no benefits from one to the other in pairs however.

Todd, I just read an article that stated the '90 came with the 15/16" master cylinder and the rest were 1". If that's true, then I'm good with the big bore FSL calipers you're sending out. Do you know this to be true?

You should be good to go.
Things might make it there by Friday.

Chris that's almost the exact setup I'd decided on for my car. I was just planning on calling tire-rack for the K1-TS's though on fitment as I've got a wholesale account through them at the dealership. They're often pretty conservative on their settings though.

I know this isn't what you're getting, but its an idea of an overly extreme setup that Dennis Grant runs on his 97. Somewhere between here and stock is where you'd want to end up of course.

WHEELS
Type............................Volk TE-37 forged aluminum
Size............................17" X 9.5" +12mm
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TIRES
Type............................Hoosier A3S03 autocross compound
Size............................275 40R17

As a sidebar, DG dropped that setup in favor of Enkei RPF1's in 18x10 285/35r18. I seem to recall that he ran faster times on that one, too.

Less sidewall gives you more response. There's that added weight where you don't want it thing, but if you add a pound going to a larger diameter rim but shave a pound from the tire, you come out a little ahead.

I suppose I should mention, my pedal height has changed just enough to mess up my "heel & toe" technique. Not that I could do it before, ROFL If you have time Chris, could you post pics?

I just measured my new wheels for spoke clearance and thought I'd share the info since they're popular wheels.

They're 5Zigen FN01R-C, 17x8" with 35mm offset. By my calculations I have about 1.6 inches of spoke clearance. According to TCE's wheel clearance chart, these wheels will clear the biggest kit (Road Race with BSL6 caliper)....which is what I'll be purchasing once my parts fund fills back up :D I'll be sure and post pictures when it's installed.
