So im in the market for a new set of injectors and id2000cc look to be exactly what i want but im concerned with its ability to run 93 pump gas since that's the only option i have where i live. All information ive read from ID and vendors say its not compatible with MTBE gasoline. I know this is an oxygenater to boost octane. Has anyone ran these on there car? I tried to search but didn't find what i wanted to here.

I run FIC 2150's, which are essentially the same. No problems with pump gasoline. 99% of pump gasoline does not contain MTBE anymore, the octane is now raised by blending ethanol.

MTBE is only used these days in some high octane racing fuels, but the manufacturers will state that the fuel is oxygenated so you know to stay away.

Also, a 2000cc injector is more than 99.9% of people will ever need on pump gasoline. You'd be much better off with a 1000cc injector, unless you plan on running ethanol sometime down the road.

It is used in some leaded fuels such as race fuels these days, most people using 2000cc injectors will be using E85 and wont have to worry about the MTBE. I have seen several guys have problems with the ID 2000's though.

Lead replacement as in the only lead any of us have ever had in fuel, same basic thing, same reason for being in the fuel. My point is that its not an octane booster is a lead additive.

That made absolutely no sense. If you go to the pump at the track and buy 112 you are getting 112 octane leaded fuel. MTBE was used in comercially sold fuels because lead was outlawed by the EPA to be sold in comercially used fuels.

MTBE was sold as an octane booster to the commercial fuel market because lead could not be used, lead and MTBE are both octane boosters.

If you have ever been to the track and had a car drive by that was using a leaded fuel you would know it right away by both the smell, and the white film inside the exhaust (if you could see inside the exhaust.)

VP Drag Racing Fuels - If you don't believe me that lead is still used in fuels.

What part didnt make sense? MTBE was added to fuel in the 70's to replace LEAD, its a lead replacement, and for the sake of what goes on in these forums, users dont have to know its chemical makeup, all that they have to know is that its "lead" and does the same job as lead did. It was added to replace lead, the fact that lead and MTBE have a side effect as octane boosters was not the main reason for their existance in gasoline, it was to cushion valves. I have been around race engines for many years, I have used leaded fuels and been around them for many years also, I have used MTBE additives in place of lead, yes we all know that white soot is from lead or MTBE. I dont see your point, this thread is about experience with ID 2000 injectors, all that the o/p has to know is not to use any fuels containing MTBE and that could include race fuels at the track. Most guys using 2000cc injectors are doing so to be able to run E85 as a fuel which wont have any MTBE to worry about so this becomes a moot point unless the o/p plans to run race gas on 2000cc injectors which would be overkill.

Let's see what didn't make sense..

Your very first post you say MTBE=Lead, I corrected you. Now you say MTBE was added to REPLACE lead, which I already stated many times. What's your story?

MTBE is not the same as lead. Don't mislead people. If MTBE was the same as lead, why do you think companies make millions of dollars making lead additives for modern fuels, catering to classic cars that do not run modern cylinder heads with hardened valve seats?

I have never seen an MTBE fuel additive, because until about 2005, all fuel sold in the United States was blended with MTBE to increase octane, fuels are now blended with ethanol to increase octane.

Non-leaded MTBE fuels do not create white soot, if that was the case all exhaust tips pre-2005 would have been white, which is most certainly not the case. I know for a fact that back in 2002, when I got my first Talon fuels were blended with MTBE, exhaust tip was most certainly black. Go to the track and fill up with 112 leaded, exhaust tip turns white. This is a non-debatable subject. Furthermore, if MTBE was the same as lead cars would not be able to run oxygen sensors or catalytic converters for any period of time because leaded fuels destroy both components.

The OP also needs to know that there are many other oxygenators for fuel than MTBE. The OP would be safe running any gasoline that comes out of a pump with an octane rating from 87-93 sold in the US. Oxygenated race fuels are the only ones that will require a closer look at the labels.

I gave my opinion on these injectors from the beginning and you started off with false information. I don't see where you're trying to go.:ohdamn:

Im not trying to go anywhere, I'm trying to assist the o/p and everything that I stated is correct. Back when we jetted carburetors we would jet them on regular fuel and then switch over to race fuel, otherwise the spark plug color could be deceiving, so YES many of us have lots of experience on leaded fuel, some of us have probably been doing this far longer than others apparently.

So, sorry to revive and old thread, but im looking at possibly getting some new injectors, and I know alot of ppl go with FIC's, but I was talking with a buddy about some ID2000's.

Just don't see alot of reviews, and this thread kinda went from an injector reviews for ID's, to a fuel additive derailment.

Anyone have a reason to use ID's over FIC's?

From my understanding FIC doesn't use stainless valveing inside the injector that allows you to run MTBE race fuels that ID has. UNLESS you get FIC 1650s. Also sad to see no one else respond to this post after all these years.
