So my belt broke and im doing all the timing stuff and i have a pair of fidanza cam gears. Sadly i ordered them before i relized the uselessness off them on stock cams. I know 1g's have more agressive cams and 93 has the most agressive, but is it worth getting them. My problem is i only have about 300 dollars and i dont want to take everythign apart again in 2 months when i have the money. If i can get a set of cams at junkyard is it worth it? Or is there anythign else i can do to get at least a little out of these cam gears? I need the car back together as soon as possible since it's a daily driver.

I agree and normally would but my overall goal is just to push an evo 3 at 19psi and i dont plan on doing my interanls. Since this is also a daily driver i wish to get this all done and out of the way so hopefully i never have to do it again. I was orignanly fine with stock cams its just now that i have the gears and i tore everything apart i figured i would do it and get as much out of them as possible.

Just save and get the proven stuff.
please don't post useless information when you have no experience with the product. i run the ffwd dks 272's and i love them. i've been running them for a couple months and they are great. there is nothing wrong with reground camshafts when they are machined properly. why don't you do some research and see how many fast v8's are running reground cams and go tell them that they are garbage. if you want affordable cams and don't want to pay for the flashy HKS name then get the DKS cams. you won't be dissapointed.

Sorry to bring that old thread to life.

I got a set of DKS1 (264/272) cams from FFWDconnection and i like them a lot. Altough i think i should put adjustable cam gears to squezee a bit more of power and have better iddle.

Plus the DKS cams from FFWD have a 1 year warranty on them. You can't beat that for $350. They are next on my list to get this 60-1 breathing right.

you can get a small gain from stock cams, just retard the exhuast cam gear a couple degrees( no more than 5*), if you had a dyno or some other type of datalogging software that has a dyno on it you could try diff settings and see which works best. Ive seen about a 8 hp gain from doing this at SBR.
