Anyone know any good alarms to get???

I'd recommend the viper 2 way pager system. When I bought my Gsx last year I went right to our local stereo/alarm dealer and picked one up, they are a little pricey but well worth it if you have the funds.

im an installer and i like the viper 5900. its a viper two way with one mile range. i just didnt hook up for a remote start but its last years model so you would prob have to find it online

I have the Viper 5900 on all of my cars. Great alarm/remote start!! Before the 5900, I had the previous model 791xv.(same thing, but less range) and I have never had any issues with them at all in the past 5-6 years.

Here is one for 190 shipped.
NEW Viper 5900 2-Way LCD Remote Start and Alarm Unit - eBay (item 390042300647 end time May-05-09 21:53:29 PDT)

and here is a used one for 115 shipped. this is a great deal!!
eBay Motors: Viper 5900 2-way Security with Remote Start Car Alarm (item 180344320466 end time Apr-11-09 19:33:10 PDT)

I would get one of these, then take it to your local installer and have them put it in. Or if you can do it yourself, then do that. I have been installing mine for years.

viper is the best, so ive heard. I guess any of them are good as long as you place the sensors in the correct spots.

as long as you have a dmm and know how to test all the wires its not too bad. just make sure you get a good wire diagram and take your time on the prewire and it will be pretty straight forward

Yea thanks alot..... Yea sure could figure it out with some instructions! LOL but i do have factory remote alarm, my doors un lock with it and lock. Sercurity comes on, panic buttom works. But some reason when armed it doesnt go off if door opened or anything.. So just want to get something else in there, when installing the new alarm say the viper, what do i have to do to the stock alarm??

there will be a factory alarm arm and a factory alarm disarm wire you have to hook up....sometimes you dont depending if the car only locks with the factory key pad.

the way to tell is to leave your window down and lock the car with the keypad....wait like 5 mins then reach in and manually unlock and open the door. if your horn starts goin off you have a factory alarm if it doesnt then its just a keyless entry system and not an alarm

well tried that!! LOL i tried that when first wondering about that.. But if its just a keyless entry why do they have sirun under the hood, and a panic button on the pad. I thought just keyless dont have it. Well if thats the case, and i dont have alarm i dont have to disarm anything right?

yeah if you did that and the horn didnt go off then you dont have to disarm anything. the panic is just a sense of security if you see someone near your car you can scare them off......or theres also the popular method of finding your car in a parking lot LOL

Do any of you feel that a tilt sensor is necessary in a system? That way, if someone tries to take the wheels, the alarm sounds?

I'm just curious about this. I've never asked around and live in a pretty safe neighborhood where I don't have to worry about these things.

I have the Clifford 50.7. Been pretty happy with it so far. Features I like are 1 mile range, cabin temp display, built in lithium battery with mini USB charger and auto start for manual trans.
