Anyone heard of a "vacuum assist valve?"

I am looking at buying a 95 Talon TSi AWD and the owner says it needs a "vacuum assist valve." I have never heard of one of these and did some searching and couldn't find anything about one. Anyone have an idea what he is talking about? He says the car bogs and hesitates anytime you punch the throttle below 3000 rpm. He says above 3000 that it runs fine. I live 2 hours away and won't have time to go look at it and drive it until this weekend. Thanks.

I finally got my boost leak tester built last night and found time to get the test done. The BOV is leaking even with only 4 psi, so I assume that is the problem. I didn't hear any other leaks, but it was hard to tell for sure with the BOV leaking. Now I just need to get a 1G BOV mounted up and see if that totally fixes it. Should I do a UICP or just get a mounting adapter? Thanks again everyone.

Up to you. If you think you want to leave the piping as it is for now with the stock smic, i'd say get it. Or leave it if you want to move to a short route fmic sometime soon. I upgraded mine because i knew i wanted to leave the piping and built to it when i did my fmic. But if you're just putting on a 1g bov i wouldn't say it warrants a uicp. Just if you want it.

You guys are kidding, right? Everyone knows what a vacuum assist valve is (more commonly referred to as a vav). Its one of those things you make up when you don't know shit about cars.
