First I hope this is the right sub-forum. This question seems to fit a a few of them.

As the title states, anyone have any experience with Grams Performance? I've been doing research for my fuel system for my TSI build. In talking to my tuner he suggested a dual 044 setup to give me plenty of room to grow past to 600-700 hp range we are shooting for. In looking for the best deal on legit Bosch 044's I ran into the Grams Performance site when I was looking at ways to mount and merge.

I saw they have a pump that looks to be of similar design to the 044, but its rated at 355 lph vs the Bosch at 300. I can't seem to find any reviews of said pump though. I found some flow charts on the Grams 320 lph in-tank pump and it exceeds the Bosch up to a certain point (as it should) but then falls off. No such charts could be found on the 355. At 55 psi the Grams is less flow than the Bosch.

I'm willing to take criticism if it is warranted for even considering these. Just looking to save money (without cutting corners) where I can. If I'm just better off ponying up a little for the Bosch I'll just go that route and get it over with.

Thanks in advance

I do with my s2000. I supercharged it, and the kit came with a grams pump. I installed it and drove it to the tuner a few days later. While on the dyno it failed. Brand new pump... over heated and I was stranded 3 hours away. I ran to a local speed shop and picked up a walboro pump which didn't fit... I zip tied it in place and drove home, praying that every bump I hit didn't knock the zipties loose.

I've been in the game since 2005. Never have I had a walboro pump fail, I will never use anything else.

I am not brand loyal, I currently have an s2000, a 2g gsx a civic si and a wrx.

Years ago I purchased an aem direct replacement pump for the wrx. Two years in I had power surging issues, turned out it was the pump... again replaced with a walboro.

All of my cars now run walboros and none have ever failed. I highly reccomend finding a walboro that works for your needs. I'm sure you can find one. My gsx made 565wph (well into your 600hp goal range) on a single walboro pump. Check out my build page.

Appreciate your response. The one good thing about the Bosch is they are OEM pumps for Porsche 911 among other cars. I don't fear them failing prematurely.

Even though yours is only one story, it may have convinced me to just go with the Bosch. I found legit ones for only $32 more each so at that cost, and hearing your story, its almost a no-brainer.

I'm willing to hear other stories in the meantime. I'm not going to pull the trigger just yet. I just sent an email authorizing an addition $1100 toward a cluster rebuild that started at $1200 for my 3000GT trans.....

Do yourself a favor and run a single pump. If you have a failure the car simply won’t run. If you run two pumps and have a failure with one of them, you will cause catastrophic damage.

If you have big dreams like that, run a large, inline pump. Not a baby intake pump like you are looking at. Especially if you are targeting any alcohol based fuel.

I appreciate your input, however I trust my tuner. He's been in the game for many years and knows how to make power. He runs 8s in his Talon and tunes a 7 second car as well. There will also be failsafes.

Also if I run two pumps, and one fails, I can still limp it home or to the shop til I get a replacement. If I run one pump and it fails then I'm stranded.

You clearly didn’t understand me. If you rely on two pumps while racing and one fails midpass. You won’t be making it home.

And I sure would like to hear who this is. Because I have been as fast as him as well. Think 2005. So yeah, I have been around. A lot of people talk. Not many back it up.

There are not very many inputs and outputs left for failsafes with your FT450. I also run FuelTech so I am quite aware of what it can and cannot do. And the FT450 will barely get your car running. Let alone leave room for extra toys.

I completely understood what you were saying.

I'm also not here to name drop friends and acquaintances. I'll just say I've known him several years and have seen his car and the ones he tunes run. He's legit. His name is mentioned on this very forum in a few posts, so he is known.

I was actually talking to him as he was cleaning his car on Saturday. I'm buying the turbo I'm going to run off him from one of his old setups. It's a fresh rebuild with zero miles on said rebuild.

Again I appreciated your input, but I know what I'm getting myself into.

I also hate the two pump system even if it’s been used for years. Let’s have another pump come on at full tilt and hope it works.

All 3 of my TI Industries (Walbro) 'Hellcat" 525's have performed great and no failures to 40 psi of boost. Not sure what your goals are but its just my personal experience. When I say all 3, it is because all 3 of my DSM's have one in them.
