here's a crazy question, my car runs great but for some weird reason i cant full throttle it, when i do it sputters, no boost leak spark plugs are good, i am missing my catalyc converter and my rear o2 sensor, my check engine light is on but for my speedometer not working and my rear o2, also are u suppose to hear your stock fuel pump whine like an aftermarket one, i think the guy that had it before me did an engine swap for a newer 4g63t motor, but i'm not sure if he forgot to take out the fuel pump or what, also i run 91 octane, could that be the problem, should i run 93, it's like i can hit 10 pounds but anything over and it sputters, other than that it runs like new and the body is in almost mint condition...

thanks, but i took it to a shop today that deals with dsm's and i found out that there was an engine swap done to it but the retard that did it, forgot the vacuum hoses, so thats why i couldnt go full boost without it sputtering, the car was trying to tell me that it was getting too much gas and not enough air when i full throttled it..

We need a little more information. On some engine swaps, some vacuum lines are deleted anyway (emissions and whatnot). What vacuum lines are missing? Is the swap for a 6-bolt 4g63? What plugs and wires are you using?

And yes, use the highest octane you can get at a regular gas station. If this means 93 octane, then run that. Do boost leak tests regularly. Find out why your CEL is on. That's your car's way of saying "Something is WRONG with me." Fix your speedometer. It's better to tell the cop you knew how fast you were going instead of "I have no clue how fast I was going because my car is in disrepair."

As a last note, please remember to use proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar when posting. It makes your posts much easier to understand. This is one of the simple rules we ask you to follow here. Thank you.

You're missing your catalytic converter?! Where'd it go? LOL IF your going to be running no cat, you should look into getting an o2 simulator, which should tell the car that its running just fine and would take your CEL off. I had to do this for my car when i built my no-cat exhaust

buddy without that o2 sensor i imagine you mite be having some problems

Please remember to use proper capitalization, spelling (MIGHT, not MITE), and punctuation in your posts.

Also, you may want to expand on your comments, rather than making vague assumptions. The rear O2 sensor does nothing in terms of adjusting A/F ratio. It's merely there to check for proper catalytic converter operation.

thanks mrBoxx, i do appreciate the advice, and i'm not being sarcastic, really thanks, and my apologies about my spelling, didnt mean to confuse anyone, the guy that had it before me apparently took the cc off when he had the three inch piping put on and i guess just got rid of the o2 sensor, why? thats beyond me, as for getting pulled over and explaining the speedometer, yeah i dont want to be in that situation, so i'm getting that fixed right away, like i said i just got this car, so unless i'm rich i can only repair a few problems at a time, i have bills to pay and what not, i'm sure u guys can relate....i agree with you need2boostpsi what would a o2 sensor have to do with anything but the cel,....random question for anyone, can a stock awd tsi talon beat a 97-98 stock mustang GT???

That question is what we call bench racing. It's not allowed here. There are way too many variables between identical cars, much less different makes and models. Here's an example: I have a stock 95 GSX and my buddy has a stock 95 GSX. Who would win in a race? There's no way to answer that. Same with "How much horsepower will XXXX part give me?" or "I have XXX, YYY, and ZZZ done to my car, how fast will I run at the track?" There's no answer. You just have to race at the track and find out.

I disagree on this. There is nuance involved with the rear O2 where by the ECU will tweak the richness or leanness of the fuel to maintain optional catalytic conversion in the catalytic converter. The ECU bases the primary A/F ratio figures upon the front O2 and then varies that figure based upon rear O2 readings.... actually the difference between the front and rear.

Furthermore, the ECU will test the rear sensor by richening the fuel slightly and check the read value from the sensor to be within the range expected. Different manufacturers claim it will vary it differently, from 0.5% to as much as 30%.

To say there NO effect on A/F ratio is not a true statement. Otherwise there is absolutely no point for a rear O2 sensor if its sensing is meaningless and your post leads to believe.

Here is some guys experiments with the rear O2...
Ping Tigger: case study on rear O2 sensor and fuel trim

Also if you read the patent information for the Rear O2 / Catalytic Converter it states that the Rear O2 sensor does effect the fuel trim as this is required to maintain optima Catalytic Conversion in the Converter. Otherwise if this cannot be done, then the converter is useless in functionality and the rear sensor is meaningless.

wow i didnt know that about an o2 sensor, cool, well i will make it a goal to replace that now, i was asking about the talon and mustang because i'm curious about turbo vs N/A, N/A does'nt have to build up gradually to reach full hp, N/A is quicker to reach it's max hp, so will the turbo car have to play catch up? a stock 97 mustang GT is 215 hp, a stock awd tsi talon is 210 hp, so from a roll "for obvious reasons", how would that play out? would weight become a factor? are dsm's known to use more gas than any other four cylinder? being a 4g63t engine? and dumb question "don't make fun" what exactly is a 6bolt? how do u know u have a 6 or 7 bolt?

Search button is your friend. Many I mean many of people have asked that before.

It will help you learn your car and how these vehicle work.

i c, i guess google is my friend, thanks...

nope, if you go to the top of the DSMtuners screen you will see a task bar.

Starts at Tech, parts, regional, forums, then search.

Click on search and it will show you to search forums. then type you question or what your looking for.

its great, I use it all the time.
