Any 1Ga's running a HKS muffler? Pics?

^ Beautiful system, V-bands and all. I can't imagine what it sounds like from behind under a hard pull. Looks like some of the custom stuff they built for the Supras way back in the day being full 4" with the muffler being 4" in and out. Is it fully titanium?

Them welds dont look like titanium welds to me, plus if it was then the muffler would be welded to the pipe and not held on with spring clamps. I nearly brought a titanium muffler but at nearly 600 bucks no thanks. Not unless the piping is titanium aswell. I'll stick to my stainless/titanium muffler at half the price!

I was meaning the piping by the way as the muffler is 100% fully titanium. That what i thought you ment.

Ok well I currently have a full 3" turboback exhaust all mandrel bent with no cats or resonators to a Magnaflow race muffler and it sounds good but doesn't quite have the sound I'm looking for and I have a HKS Carbon Ti axleback from my old 2G GSX I was gonna fab up to try and look the same as it did on my 2G but on my 1G and am wondering if anyone has pics or vids of the muffler on their 1G. If so I would greatly appreciate you sharing. My old 2G GSX basically has the same kind of exhaust setup my car has now except for the different mufflers and I miss it. I'll post vids in the moring.

Video of the muffler on my old 2G, and you can kinda see my Magnaflow in my avatar.

The muffler isnt really going to change from 1 style to another its still made the same way inside and out, the only difference you will get is if you buy a race muffler, but if you have the hks muffler then just use it.

The system is stainless and the muffler is titnium.
Looks great- I was just curious as some of the other titanium mufflers I've seen were riveted on one side and re-packable, so in the event that the fiberglass material burns out (and they all do with time) you would be able to re-use the muffler and not have to replace the entire unit.

If that happens I'l just cut it open and have ron re weld it.

If I was looking for an exhaust for a 1G I would for sure be buying the buschur exhaust. I have had it on two cars and it was awesome.

The style like Shearer_TSi showed above? That appears to be a full titanium version of what is basically an APexi N1, although his is 4" straight-thru which is how that style of muffler originated. It wasn't until the import scene grew into epic proportions that the inlet sizes became available in 3" and 2.5" varieties while retaining the 4" outlet.

You can get A'Pexi N1 mufflers with various inlets to fit your application, and they do sound quite nice on DSM's.

The "race bullet" mufflers are super-high flow but offer very little sound absorption. Think of them like a resonator for race-use only...not that it wouldn't work on a street car, it would just be quite loud.

Yeah my car is already pretty loud as it is right now which is why I wanted to try the HKS muffler, than if it is still too loud throw on a 12" resonator or something. Idk though. I have two o2 housings I wanna try as well, but one would require modification(more hacking up of my exhaust)to my downpipe. Don't know if the gains would even be more while..

BTW I'm sorry for lashing out you at Justin.. Were both adults, I should have been more mature about the situation. Hope you can forgive me man.

Honestly the best mufflers for absorbing sound are ovals. Dynomax makes an oval called the UltraFlo that has fiberglass material inside and a straight-thru core design. Should still flow well but absorb more sound than an equal-length round muffler, and they have better ground clearance than round muffers as well.

We all have bad days. I apologize if I've ever done something on my end to make you feel as you did; if so, surely it was unintentional. :thumb:

Do you know what the muffler Wyldkard has on the army tank? That muffler looks like a nice muffler.
To be honest I feel like I can hear too much exhaust tip in my exhaust, its not raspy or ricey at all it just doesn't have that DSM sound to it..

...l it just doesn't have that DSM sound to it..
I find that the "DSM sound" is quite tractory and often caused by popping in cams for sound/lope and other questionable mods. We have nearly the same exhaust, and "raspy" is the last word I'd use to describe mine.

Looking at pics of Wyldkard's car, it looks like a Magnaflow.

Yeah I'm not saying it sounds raspy but idk many its from having all 3" straight pipe with no cat or resonators.

What kind of sound do you want? I always loved the magna flow muffler or the bullet muffler that buschur has. If I could do it over I would use one of those. Spending almost $800 on a muffler was dumb and I wouldn't do it again. As far as I know buschur still has the bullet mufflers. I had one on my evo and it sounded great. I always wanted to try one of the burns stainless mufflers as well.

I can vouch for the bullet muffler, I loved the sound of it on my evo. Hey if you wanna spend 700 bucks I might sell you my muffler LOL

I would buy it because of the unique and sexiness of the quality, I cherish little things like that haha. I'm gonna try a couple things with my exhaust I have right now and see if I can change the sound and then I'll start hacking it up more.

If your being completely serious about the muffler we should work something out :thumb:
