My motor is messed up in my antenna or something, it makes noise like its suppose to work but it never moves, and I was wondering if any of you guys every replaced the antenna with a shorty antenna. If there was any hard moding that had to be done to get it to fit. I was looking at something like the link posted below. I figure I would get no signal for my radio but I never listen to it anyways.

My car don't come with antenna/ antenna motor installed, but the last give my short antenna from a VW/Audi. I just install it last week end. The hardest part of the job was routing the antenna wire back to the headunit. (The owner removed it also).

The hardest thing I foresee is getting the OEM antenna wire to connect with the eBay shorty antenna, but i sure you can figure it out.

I don't think that antenna will work for our cars. If you're not going to use the radio anyway you would be better off just getting rid of it entirely like I did. I've never seen a direct bolt on aftermarket antenna for our cars.

Yea i couldnt find a direct bolt on one either. Did you just take the whole antenna out? how did you do it? got any pics?

edit- I looked in your album. I like it gone like that, Im currenty striping the paint and fixing some things, I think Im going to add this to my to-do list.

Yeah I think it looks pretty cool with it gone. And if you don't listen to the radio and you're doing some body work anyway, then why not?

It's not too hard to do, I'm guessing you either know how to do body work or know someone that does since you're already doing some stuff with it.

The approach on this is to make a space where you can fill, then sand it down flush with the rest of the body and then paint. After the antenna is out, you need to dent the hole down a little bit, grind the paint off around the hole then weld the hole shut with a piece of metal about the size of a quarter, which is about the exact size of the hole. Then you need to scuff the surrounding paint that is going to have filler applied to it really well (you will need to scuff the whole panel anyway since it will an need all new coat of clear). Then my suggestion is to use fiberglass body filler to do your thick fill, this stuff is really tough. Layer that on good and then sand it down. Then for your final fill you can use regular bondo and sand that down. After that I would roll prime it, and wet sand that with 400 grit. For your final fill before paint I would spray prime it then wet sand again with 600 grit. Like I said before you need to just scuff the rest of the panel, unless there are small dings on it that you want to take care of, so just scuff the rest with a scuff pad. Spray the patched area with sealer. Finally you can do your blend with the paint and re clear the whole thing. Wet sand the clear with 2000 grit and buff it back.

I might have lied, it's a little bit of work but it looks cool when you get it done.

This first picture is the roll prime and the second is after the final wet sand right before sealer. And yeah we did paint it in that garage.
