Another Timing belt question.

Since I don't have balance shafts anymore, do I need to worry about lining up the oil pump correctly?

If I'm right the only reason you make sure the oil pump is timed correctly is because its attached to one of the balance shafts.

So I just wanted to know because I'm having a hard time aligning all the marks, and I can get all but the oil pump lined up.

on VFaq it tells me this information..

NOTE that there is an easier way to do this. Simply rotate the mark on the oil pump sprocket until it is pointing straight up, and let it go. If the sprocket rotates towards (counterclockwise) the timing mark on the engine, the oil pump sprocket is aligned correctly. If it rotates away (clockwise) from the mark, spin the sprocket a full turn and test again, and it should properly rotate towards the mark now. Now line the mark on the sprocket back up with the mark on the engine. This avoids having to remove the rear access bolt entirely

also when i do timing belts i always have to set the intake cam gear off 1 tooth counterclockwise direction before i set the tensioner which is prob why your oil pump keeps moving a tooth off, or maybe your just not setting the belt correctly...hope that helped

What does any of that have to do with his post? Your fine, no need to line up the mark.

Defiant, this is a little off topic but I'm up for some good laughs right now . What ever happened to that post where the 1 member said said about you always making comments about things? A link would be nice seeing as I searched for it and can't find it.
