ok heres the deal i searched the forum and couldnt find a straight up answer.... plus im 18 and on a budget and i cant afford mistakes...
i know theres been a lot of posts about this but i need a straight answer

ok i want a megan downpipe, but ive heard conflicting storys about weither they fit 2g AWD's or not. so whats the deal, i'd like some people would have recently ordered them to post wiether they fit or not.I read that they were remaking it and correcting the fitment issues. It wouldnt be a big deal if i had to do minor modifcations but since i'm 18 and dad left me and mom about a year ago and took all the tools with him i dont have any access to stuff. But hey at least i got a tool set for christmas....
but anyway i was just on ebay and ive got some pics will anyone tell me which one is correct if not point me in the right direction.

well for some reason it wont let me post pics so here's the link

oops this is the link...

OH P.S what about thier 2g AWD catback?? any updates

Look in the megan catback thread, the downpipe is a new design that will fit right but i dont know if it is done yet, ill let ya figure that one out. But i agree where the $*#& is that catback I've been waiting forever!! I'd post there but I'm a newbie :sosad: . It was supposed to be released and in stock by now but noone has even posted in the thread in two weeks, so i dont know what I'm going to do for a catback now.

I cant speak for the Megan AWD version but I recently installed the FWD version and it fit perfect. Everything lined up perfectly. Those pics that are posted are correct. AWD downpipes are straight back while FWD ones have that angle to them. The picture in the auction is correct, it should fit just fine. Looks just like the downpipe I installed on my previous AWD Talon. Are you planning on going with a catback at the same time?

I have a 95 awd. I purchased the T-Pros downpipe off ebay. It looks exactly like the megan. I just had one problem with mine. The O2 studs lined up fine with the downpipe but when I went to screw on the nuts there was only room for one the other one hit the side of the pipe. Not really knowing how to solve the problem. I kinda dented the downpipe in a little at the top so the nuts threaded on and then I could get the socket on. Don't know if you would want to go that route? If you look inside the pipe you can barely tell it is dented in. Don't know if I affected performance? You sure can't tell by the way it pulls though. An option for you to look into.

Well there were two big fitment issues. The first one was the o2 studs werent fitting right or something like that. The second one was that the flange on the cat end was rotated wrong and the bolts didnt line up at all.
tranceman to answer youre question i was planning on going with the megan catback also..
its only the AWD 2g thats having the problem not the FWD

i was just hoping that someone had recently bought one and installed it and could give me some answers

I have one made by edge racing which is probably just the same as the megan for my 97 awd. It has a 2.75" inlet and 3" outlet. The only problems I had with mine was the O2 housing bolts werent spaced far enough apart ( I remedied the problem by buying an EVO 3 O2 housing) which is still quite a tight fit but I didnt have to dent the pipe at all, I just had to use an open end 19mm rather than a socket. The bracket that holds the oil feed line to the turbo needed to be trimmed down(Sawz-all) and it seems like most people have problems with the outlet of the downpipe. I had my mid pipe custom made by an exhaust shop for my thermal axle back that I bought used for an awd. Most people have problems with big name catback kits because the inlet for those are areound 2.5" and it doesnt bolt up to the 3" outlet of the downpipe. Check some things out and measure everything before you take everything apart and realize that you need more/different parts. Good Luck
