I know there are about a gazillion posts on knock sensors and knock and what causes knock. The only reason I am making a new thread is to confirm what I believe to be true. My car was purchased with 205k and a blown motor/tranny. It had a NT block with turbo internals and a new head and headgasket...for everything else, feel free to visit my profile. Today I finally get my key diver tune with phantom knock gauge and notice as I am going down the track that my knock gauge pegs at 10+ counts, yet I feel no knock or signs of knock. I know you cant always feel it, but if it REALLY spiked that high, I'm pretty sure you'd hear it. (Feel free to flame away). My times were not what I was hoping, and the car still felt like it really lacked power. One run, it completely felt like it pulled timing in 2nd gear and killed my accelleration. After I got home I remembered that when I had the motor out, I thought as I looked at the knock sensor..."Gee, this has 205K on it...its probably done, but I'll wait to replace it until I know for sure it has nothing left. I assume its bit the bullet, but I have never seen a new knock sensor so I'm not sure what it looks like fresh. Please feel free to confirm or say "Todd, your an idiot and *THIS* is your real problem" after looking at the picture I snapped (on about the gazillionth try) of the sensor. Thanks!
