so my car makes this roaring noise like its gonna blow up in the higher rpm range (5k and up) and i have looked it up and searched to find out peole that had the same problem, had to change thier balance shaft. but then ive heard that it could be problems with my transmission too....i can drive the car fine if i shift under 5k, and being on the highway is not a problem, which leads me to my question, can i continue driving my car like this as long as i dont push my car that hard? ive seen and read on how to change/remove the balance shaft and belt with the kit but i dont have the time to do that, so should i just park it till i have time or....?

i should add that i just got my 1Ga back from the shop. i sent it to get an ugly lifter tick niose and replace 2 valves. my car idles, starts up, and runs fine, untill i tried punching it, thats when i heard the priviously described niose... thanks in advance for any help

1) Was this happening before taking it to the shop? Since you didn't have them fix it I would think this is a new issue. If so, you should have them do the repair.

2) Who installed the balance shaft kit? How long ago? Be sure that you have a kit with the necessary grooves for oil to travel through. There are a couple good threads on this just do a search.

no this started after i got it back from the shop. and the BS kit was never installed, the engine is stock with only a turboxs bov and mbc.

In that case I will wait for someone else to chime in. But at least you can check your bse kit to make sure it is the proper one before installing.

If the issue just started, though, I would communicate this with the shop immediately as to not cause any delay or denial of the repair. If you haven't already, set the boost to stock and see if you get the same results. Also double check for boost leaks and check the gap in your plugs.

I probably will take it to the shop. But before I took my car to the shop, I wasn't making more than 10 psi. I haven't checked for a boost leak yet but I did open my boost controller to find out it didn't have any spring or ball. Its a Turboxs dual stage boost controler, are these suppose to come with a spring and ball? Where is it? Also I'm waiting to order the bse kit from STM along with some motor mounts as I read there's a slight increase in vibration.

Thanks for that. I didn't know there was a wrong kit you could get. But that doesn't look like the stubby shaft your supposed to use anyway. I guess I'll just see what the mechanic has to say. If I have to end up doing all the work, I'm going to try it with the block in the car. I know its a pain but I really don't wanna pull the block... Thanks again
